Dr. Sam McQuade, principal researcher and graduate program coordinator, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Center for Multidisciplinary Studies-- Emerging dangers, threats and trends in kids' online safety according to a survey of 40,000 students conducted by RIT.

Among 50 U.S. cities studied for their vulnerability to cybercrime, Seattle came out on top as the riskiest place, followed by Boston, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, according to the report "Norton's Top 10 Riskiest Online Cities," released Monday. Results are based on the number of attempted hacking attacks and infected systems.

The 7th in the series of guides looking at common security threats on the internet and what to do to protect against them, this time looking at Viruses, Worms and Trojans.

Security firm Symantec has identified the top 100 searches conducted by children online. Popular items in the list include some expected entries like YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace as well as queries for popular pop idols like Michael Jackson and Miley Cyrus. However, what's surprising about the children's list is how similar it looks to that of any other online adult - something which seems to imply that our online activities aren't all that age dependent after all.
