Another of my favorite Ted Talks is from Sir Ken Robinson. In this video, he brilliantly discusses many of the principles discussed in our book about why our educational system is not serving our students well.
I cannot praise Sir Ken's contribution to the field of education enough! His work on the British school system is wonderful. This is his blog address: http://sirkenrobinson.com/
I like Sir Kenneth Robinson definition of creativity "The process of having original ideas that have value". I use parallel definition to motivate students when there are looking for a full time job. I explain to the students to remember to describe during the interview process their work value and not so much what they were responsible for while at work. Rule number four applies in this situation "we don't pay attention to boring things" neither do recruiters. If students start explaining during the interview all of their responsibilities on the job recruiters will tune out.
I love TedTalks (ideas worth spreading). There has a limit of 18 minutes for each guest speaker, which is a good timing to avoid boring the audience. I've watched this video before. Like it very much. I am more agree with this quote: "If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original."
I am also a fan of Ken Robinson. I have this video posted on my school website and show it the first day of class every year and ask my students to show it to their parents. We have a really good discussion after this video.
