Men have bigger brains, but it doesn't make them smarter. :) - 7 views

Female and male brains differ in both structure and function. Women's brains are about 10 percent smaller than men's. This explained that women tend to be less impulsive and more concerned with emotions than men are. Yet, when it comes to putting brains to work, women and men have their own areas of expertise. Men do better than women at spatial tasks such as thinking about rotating or manipulating an object. They're also better at navigating along a route and at high-end mathematical reasoning.
Do you agree with this?
* Men have bigger brains, but It doesn't make them smarter.
* Women have better memories, worse sense of direction.
* Women live Longer, but on average men are happier.

Even when men and women succeed at the same task, they tend to call on different strengths and areas of the brain to achieve this result,

Thanks for your input Juan, Jackie, and Maria! Social norms such as pink for girls, blue for boys, and arguments of the definition of famine and masculine have existed and affect our social relationships. Studies show that gender role norms affect the way people act, feel, and think. I am glad we are able to take this opportunity to learn more about anatomical differences between male and female brains in chapter 11, which also explains why male and female act differently in many things. As described in the chapter that "women are more likely to get depressed than men". After reading this Yahoo article, which "Women live longer, but on average men are happier" can also be well explained. Enjoy your reading boys and girls!

I agree with you Juan. We do need outlets to relieve stress. I believe speak out loud, laugh out loud with friends are good ways to relieve stress. (here comes the gender stereotype, men are allowed to drink to talk out loud in the public, what about a group of women??? ) I've read an article that some Japanese company has a mini gym in their office building. There are no treadmills, no weights, but punching gloves and punching bags. After never-ending bow down in a long day, go to gym and imagine the punching bag is the boss. What a creative way of relieving stress at work.

I totally agree with you Richard.
When it is pleasant, it called music. When it is unpleasant it called noise.
I copied a line from the comment of the YouTube Video you provided above.
"good clubs allow people to dance & talk."
That is absolutely correct.
Music is enjoyable and that lift your spirits.
This is one of my favorite quotes from Victor Hugo.
"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent."
Do you agree?

I've took two coursera courses before I enrolled to the EDTC program.
One is "Internet History, Technology, and Security" offered by University of Michigan.
https://www.coursera.org/course/insidetheinternet
I was fully participated the class and received a completion certificate signed by the professor. (not the University)
The other course I took was "Introduction to Finance" , unfortunately I was not qualified to receive the certificate.
Although I was fully participated the course ( no absence - students are required to watch the lecture videos)
and taken quizzes. However the students are required to receive a final grade of 85 and above to receive the certificate.
I've got a 79 for the final. (The professor didn't even consider I had fully participated the course, and have had an average of 95 on my quizzes).
It was upset.
So, I am among the 10% students who can successfully completed the MOOC courses. :)
In fact this is really worth a try.
First of all, it's tuition free. Secondly, this is a unique opportunity to having lectures from professors all over the world. (last year was only some schools in the States, now they are having more global partners.)
So many interested topics and classes are offered in this program, such as "Design: Creation of Artifacts in Society" hosted by U Penn, and "What a Plant Knows (and other things you didn't know about plants) hosted by Tel Aviv University. Human-computer Interaction hosted by Stanford.
Give it a try when you have time.

Dear God,
Please give me 49.5 hours a day. I would need an extra 1.5 hours to play on Star Stable. I just love my horse PeacePetal.

Nice input Juan! I really appreciate the opportunity of learning more about our brain. Knowing how it functions we are able to better utilize this "human computer". I love technology. Nowadays, we can't live without computers. It is easy to upgrade, download, upload or delete files on computer, However, some memories are unable to be deletes from human brains. I guess this is the difference between computers and the human brain. After reading brain rules, I keep on reminding myself : "to give my brain a break".

I love TedTalks (ideas worth spreading). There has a limit of 18 minutes for each guest speaker, which is a good timing to avoid boring the audience. I've watched this video before. Like it very much. I am more agree with this quote:
"If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original."

Love what you do. This seems obvious, but so often people do things that they’re not excited about. I try to find things that I love doing, and if there’s some mundane task I have to do for some reason, I either eliminate it or find a way to enjoy the hell out of it.
