i.softbank.jpにはフェッチでメールを取りにいくそうです。iPhone側からサーバーにメールを取りに行く設定があるのですが、最短でも15分おきとちょっと間隔が空きすぎの感じです。 　しかし、「You got mail!」という表示をしてくれるので、視覚的には解りやすいです。 　それに対して、MobileMeはプッシュでサーバーからiPhoneにメールを送るので、ほぼリアルタイムでメールを受けられるわけです。 　しかも、メール着信音とバイブにも対応しているのでこちらのほうが断然いいです。 　しかし、「You got mail!」という画面表示が無いんですね。しかも年間9800円です。 　たぶん、MobileMe + i.softbank.jpのパターンが今のところベストだと思います。 　次にGmailですが、これもフェッチでメールを取りに行きます。ですので間隔は最短でも15分です。 　Webで見れば携帯の絵文字も見れます。 　こちらは、リアルタイムではないですが、メール着信音ありでバイブもありになります。しかし、「You got mail!」の表示ができません。 　で、私はどのようにしたかというと、Gmail + i.softbank.jpのパターン。 　まず、Gmailのメールの転送の設定で受信したら xxxx@i.softbank.jp に転送するように設定します。 　これでGmailにメールがきたら「You got mail!」が表示されるようになります（xxxx@i.softbank.jpのアカウントをiPhoneのMail.appに登録しないのがポイント） 　つまり、xxxx@i.softbank.jp は「You got mail!」を表示させるためだけに使います。 　あとはiPhone上でGmailのアカウントを設定し、フェッチの間隔を15分にします。 　これで、iPhoneが15分おきにGmailのメールを見に行き、メールがあれば着信音とバイブで知ら

When you first purchase your Apple iPad, the feeling will be exciting because you got a new device and it's running very fast. Later on, you will feel like things are sometimes not functioning well and your storage device space has gone away rather instantly. Maybe history, cookies and cached files using lots of space than you would wonder, or maybe a specific iPad application is having issues with history, cookies or cached data and can't refresh with new data. Using any internet browser without clearing the history, cooking or cache can cause issues over time, and the Apple iPad browser is no different.

I've owned my Droid X since it came out, and I simply love it. I can't imagine having a different phone. I feel it surpasses the iPhone in a few ways. For one, it has a bigger and sharper screen. If you're planning to play games, watch movies or shows, this is the phone for you. It might not seem like it's "that much" bigger, but it is and it makes a difference. The screen is sharp enough that I watch Netflix and HBO shows on my phone all the time (did I mention the WiFi is strong enough on the phone for this to be possible?). Also, a lot of people think they simply must have their music on their iPods. Once I got this phone, I sold my old iTouch. Are iPods better at handling music then the Droid X? Yes. But is it a significant upgrade? No, not at all. The music quality is the exact same, so the only difference is the interface. It's very easy to get the music from your computer onto the phone as well, simply a drag and drop process. Having owned the phone for almost a year and half, I have to say that the battery has declined over time. When I got the phone, the battery life was about 8-10 hours using it somewhat throughout the day. Now that is about 5-7 hours of heavier use. Even so, I still love this phone and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone!

We got a tip from Anthony Avolio yesterday, who pointed out that Google was showing ads on Maps on the iPhone. Until then I hadn't noticed it. This is another way in which Google seems to be aligning the mobile experience with that on the PC.

Although I own neither device, if I were to pick one up, I'd easily lean toward getting the iPhone, because at least it could pull double duty as my cell phone too. iPhone version 4.0 is official! It's got all the goodies, multi-tasking, background GPS, background audio streaming (Pandora), background VOIP calls and even iBooks (thanks iPad). Apple has announced the upgrade but won't make it available to all the iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch 3rd Gen users out there until sometime this summer. iPad will get the update in the Fall. Original iPhone and iPhone 3G users along with iPod Touch 1st/2nd Gen will get some features but not the multitasking (booooo). That's too bad for owners of older hardware but Apple has to cut them loose at some point to move forward.
