Scholastic.com is a gateway with an overabundance of activities for both teacher and student. Scholastic provides easy to navigate tabs for locating resources and tools, strategies and ideas, student activities, and books and authors by grade levels (Pre-K-12). The choices are filtered by grade, subject, and activities to effectively narrow down the user's search (i.e.), math, social studies, reading, sports, special education, language arts and animals. Once the user has selected the necessary discipline, they are able to use interactive and engaging web and whiteboard activities as well as a variety of lesson plans that are geared toward the 21st Century learner.

This site offers primary sources, lesson plans, digital narratives and a host of other features for the classroom. It would be a great asset to anyone studying the American South.

This site has over 1.8 million searchable images collected from archives, libraries, galleries, and museums in Australia and overseas. This site would be good for social studies, animal, geography, the arts, and countries research. For example, one of the things found when searching "Nebraska" was a picture postcard from 1908 with a battleship and a short history of the USS Nebraska.

Congress for Kids is designed for students to learn about American History and Government in an interactive way. Fifth graders focus on American Government, so this source fits right into their Social Studies standards. Students can learn about the branches of our government, citizenship, and elections. There is also a section of quizzes for students to test their knowledge of American Government.

This website, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, has a plethora of resources available to help parents and teachers looking for resources.  One of my favorite parts to use in the classroom was the section of videos from many different authors.  These would be great to use for an author study, lesson, or just to enhance a book the students enjoyed.

The American Presidency Project has many documents of interest when researching our American presidents.  There are primary sources that may be of great value when studying a particular president at his time in history.  The conversations are invaluable because they give a completely true picture of what event was going on at the time.

This is a collection of recordings made by various presidents between 1940 and 1973. It would be a great way for students to understand how a president thinks, how they use their power to influence others, and why they took certain actions.

This would be a great resource for high school students studying American history. It is a program that is putting secret recordings from presidential meetings online for public access. They are from 1940-1973, and could be useful for students doing projects on any president or historical event during that time.

This is a God-send for science and social studies classes. The visualizations and animations are very clear and easily navigable for both students and teachers. This movement supports comprehension of complex topics. Among other things, they illustrate Earth's movement from space, multiple representatives of a single place and models of molecules. 

This source provides documents and data on geography, astronomy, and science related subjects. It has a wide range of written and visual information for students. A great resource for 8th grade earth science.

This is a good site for those seniors whose Senior Project topic is on environmental issues. It is a springboard for choosing a specific focal point. It would also be good for the students to use for choosing an action plan for their project. Site is also a great science site for younger kids if you choose to look at only the bullet facts provided.

This EPA site gives the reader lots of options. One can learn about information where you live, popular topics, and current environmental news. I typed my zip code and found out the air quality, water and land information, the health risks, and energy produced in my area. I also explored some of the topics such as health and safety issues. Students could use this site to approach project-based learning and inquiry projects.

High school. Topic of studies range from acid rain, air pollution, land fills, and more. Easy to navigate. Student can find and comprehend information with easy to create reports on environmental issues, causes, and solutions

I think this particular section of USA.gov will be helpful to our social studies teachers as well as to our religion teachers. Both departments cover aspects of Cultural diversity and respect for human dignity. I think some of these documents will help demonstrate these topics.

Excellent source for American historical research. Original documents available by subject or by era. Could possibly be used for the rendevous project.

This primary source is filled with upper elementary to secondary education material. It contains teacher education, videos, an outline of subjects covered and real time information. It is easy to spend a lot of time viewing all the informtion available on C-Span Classroom.

Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids provides a basic introduction to the Federal Government. It also is set up in grade levels from K-12 to address specific State Standards. This website makes it easy for students to access information they need on their level.

This is an easy to follow site for Social Studies of the Westward Expansion and Pioneers.

The National Archives site allows users to find primary sources within the seven categories found under "Research by Topic". Students and teachers would use this site mostly for social studies, history, and science. I was able to find mostly photos, but some other documents as well. This could be used for any age group, but I think most of the content would be for middle or high school students.

The links from this site are fantastic! There were some broken links from the library of congress that I think would be very good if they were fixed. State standards are listed at the bottom, but they did not include Nebraska. Lesson plans, examples and activities help teach the topic of primary sources well.

On this website you can search different topics about Nebraska history.  I think this would be very helpful for fourth grade students because they study Nebraska.  

This source provides Nebraska specific resources for individuals.  It offers keyword searchable documents and the database of information is being added to regularly.  It is a dynamic resource on Nebraska history. 

This is an "online museum of historic newspapers" and other historical documents. It provides users a chance to peruse documents dating back to the 15th century. It includes eyewitness accounts, letters, government documents, and of course, newspapers. This would be a great resource for any upper elementary through high school student studying any part of American history.

This site is maintained by George Washington University. It documents the life and career of Eleanor Roosevelt through written and audio works. The site also provides lesson and materials for classroom use. This would be an excellent resource for women studies, human rights, and the era of the Roosevelt administration.

Time For Kids is a great source of information for kids to keep up on current news stories.  They cover the US and around the world.  They feature kid reporters and have a homework helper section.
