Federal Resources for Educational Excellence offers primary resources in a variety of subjects. These resources are not limited to history. There are resources for arts, heath, language arts, math, and science.

National Archives website with a lot of great resources.  Lesson plans & activities to help planning lessons around primary sources, school tours and activities, links with help to use primary sources.  There are also featured activities and resources.  Not to mention professional development opportunities!

Archives.gov offers a section designed just for educators. There are lesson plans and reproducible sources that can be used to teach American History. Teachers can find lessons based on specific historical time periods. Educators can also find professional development opportunities. There is a section for state and regional primary resources, but I noticed that Nebraska is not on the list.

The National Archives provides many primary documents.  Looking at the site, I also found the teacher resource section really helpful.  Some of the things that can be found there are how to find primary resources and how to use them. For teachers and librarian that are new to using this resource, or new a refresher, I think it will really benefit them.

PBS Teachers is a portal that provides preK-12 educational resources that include thousands of lesson plans, teaching activities, on-demand video assets, and interactive games and simulations that correlate to state and national educational. The site allows its user an advanced search option to fine tune their search for specific lessons by grade level, subject, and resource request (i.e.) lesson plans, video, interactive, slideshow. For educators, the site also provides a unique opportunity to subscribe and join different educator discussion forums as well as theme based theme-based widgets containing links to high-quality activity packs, resources, and activities for multiple grade levels.

This is a 2 page document which offers suggestions for teachers about using the online resources from the National Archives. It is a quick read with the web links right in the text for ease of use. The suggestions go beyond the obvious use for research to include links to lesson plans and resources to teach document analysis. This could be a very useful tool for teachers in all subjects.

This resource provides information and primary information on early Nebraska history as well as information on other American history subject areas.  It offers a portal, visual resources and lesson plans compiled on various subject areas. 

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence or FREE, is a U.S. Department of Education website that complies free teacher resources from dozens of federal agencies.  Subjects range from: arts and music, history and social studies, health, language arts, math, and science. 

Read.gov is a resource for accessing book information and reading lists, literature events, author webcasts, and local/community resources. This resource is appropriate for use by kids, teens, adults/parents, and educators. As a school librarian, I can see this resource as being valuable for lessons, educator collaboration, and student/family outreach.

The Internet History Sourcebook is a collection of historical, modern, medieval documents, maps, primary and secondary sources, literature resources, and bibliographies. This is a great resource that covers a very large span of history and information. The only downside to this site is that it has very few images.  

This page is a resource for those who want to know more about safety in the workplace. This OSHA page is specifically about training, educational resources, and training materials administered through OSHA.

I want students to know more about future careers than just how much they will get paid. I want them to understand the rules that govern their employers and career fields. So, this site would help them understand one of the groups who (on a federal level) impacts the viability of their business to remain open as a safe worksite.

The Labyrinth's easy-to-use menus and links provide connections to databases, services, texts, and images on other servers around the world. Each user will be able to find an Ariadne's thread through the maze of information on the Web. This project not only provides an organizational structure for electronic resources in medieval studies, but also serves as a model for similar, collaborative projects in other fields of study. This is the teacher site of the Library of Congress. Here you can locate primary sources by topic sets, topic, state, and theme. You can also access their web guide which contains extensive online resources for teachers and students of individuals, events, eras, and historical documents. This site is also a portal to using, citing, teaching, and analyzing primary sources, finding classroom materials to match state standards, lesson plans, activities, news & events, professional development, FAQs, and additional resources, like slide shows and handouts from past Library of Congress events.

This website, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, has a plethora of resources available to help parents and teachers looking for resources.  One of my favorite parts to use in the classroom was the section of videos from many different authors.  These would be great to use for an author study, lesson, or just to enhance a book the students enjoyed.

This site provides documents on American Indian life.  There is biographical information, index resources, and other information. The most valuable part of the website is the archive of manuscripts and written resources by influential individuals. 

Colonial Williamsburg online is a great resource for information on life in the 18th century, ranging from people, place, trades, etc. They have a feature where you can tour the town of Colonial Williamsburg in 3D and experience audio, video, photography, and other features of the town. The Colonial Williamsburg site also has biographies, essays, articles, and other primary resources from Americans on their day-to-day living in the 18th century.

Even though this is not an American affiliated site, the British Library has excellent resources for educators.  I enjoyed the variety of tools and resources it had to offer.  One particular area that I enjoyed exploring was their "Timelines: Sources from History" that allows you to explore collection items from ancient civilizations to the present day.  There was also this one section pertaining to a century of children's songs, rhymes and games, which presented children's culture in Britain over the years. I found this to be very intriguing because I did not expect to see a special area designated only for children's games of the past. In addition to explaining these games there were also curriculum links highlighting drama, history, art, citizenship, etc. 

This is a great resource for teachers from the Federal Government. There are topics in every field from arts and music to U.S. time periods. There are animations, photos, primary documents, and videos. Students could take a tour of a cell in animation, make comparisons using photos, read letters and journals of famous Americans, and watch videos about lava. There are lots of resources available for free.

Primary Resources - free worksheets, lesson plans and teaching ideas for primary and elementary teachers. This primary website allows easy access to K-6 teachers and students. A great way to practice and master skills. Primary Resources covers all curriculum areas.

On this website you can search different topics about Nebraska history.  I think this would be very helpful for fourth grade students because they study Nebraska.  

This source provides Nebraska specific resources for individuals.  It offers keyword searchable documents and the database of information is being added to regularly.  It is a dynamic resource on Nebraska history. 

Scholastic.com is a gateway with an overabundance of activities for both teacher and student. Scholastic provides easy to navigate tabs for locating resources and tools, strategies and ideas, student activities, and books and authors by grade levels (Pre-K-12). The choices are filtered by grade, subject, and activities to effectively narrow down the user's search (i.e.), math, social studies, reading, sports, special education, language arts and animals. Once the user has selected the necessary discipline, they are able to use interactive and engaging web and whiteboard activities as well as a variety of lesson plans that are geared toward the 21st Century learner.

The National Archives is the collection of U.S. Government documents and records that are important to preserve for generations to come. There is a great section for teachers that include everything from lesson plans and activities, primary source research and resources, and state and regional resources.

The National Archives website is information just waiting for you to look for it. It's a quick and easily manouvered website to help you find any kind of historical informaiton you may need. I'mportant to any scholar or educator.
