This official White House site is geared for secondary and older. The students can learn about the branches of government both Federal and State governments. They can find contacts for the representatives in both Houses as well as the Cabinet. Blogs and podcasts of the Presidential addresses are posted here as well as current information about bills being debated. There is also historical information about the White House, Presidents, and First Ladies.

This is a tool provided by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to help teachers organize their instruction of the Holocaust. It speaks to the rationale for the teaching and provides guidelines for teaching about genocide, a very sensitive topic. There are also links for both teachers and students which give a comprehensive understanding of the Holocaust. The images and first person accounts are riveting.  

NASA provides a wealth of resources that are safe, fun, and educational for students. It provides reliable information on space-related topics, as well as games, Web quests, and even chats with NASA experts This page would work well with primary students.

This site has great resources for teaching history, civics, or government. There are many primary documents for students to see and lots of ideas for teachers. There are state standards and lesson ideas. Lessons are provided for different eras and there is a link to DocsTeach where teachers can create their own documents or search for something they can use. I think this site would be very helpful.

Great site for government class at all levels. The text and history of the documents make it an in depth study of whatever topic is picked. Our American Government teachers could make use of this site for serious sources and for preparing trivia follow up. Lots of possibilities with this site.

This website can be used for students of all ages. Information is grouped by grade levels, and aligns with many standards. Students can learn about citizenship, our rights, branches of government, historical documents, among many other government related topics.

Excellent source for American historical research. Original documents available by subject or by era. Could possibly be used for the rendevous project.

The Kids in the House Web site is provided by the Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives to provide educational information about the legislative branch fo the U.S. government. This site provides activities, resources and lesson plans for students K-12. The grade school section has a segment like the School House Rocks "I'm Just a Bill"

This site integrates global issues & cultural awareness through a variety of learning activities. The site has and educator section that is incredible, it has lesson plans divided by grade level, region and subject area. I really enjoyed the languages section. The Peace Corp Challenge Game was a lot of fun.

Great primary source for all types of learning about money. This website has interactive games and activities that are really fun. It also has a great link for educators.

This site tells students all about the money we use every day.  There is also a teacher's section which provides lesson plan ideas.

The Making of America is a digital library of primary sources in American social history. The collection covers the subject areas of education, psychology, American history, sociology, religion, and science and technology. The site has a subject browsing feature that makes it very easy to navigate.

This is a great website for children K-8. It has a new site of the month as well as hot topics. This website gives students the opportunity to look at space and beyond on their level. It is filled with fun educational learning opportunities

This is the Simithsonian website. A person can search past, present and future exhibition displays. You can also search their encyclopedia as well as search their collections.

The Smithsonian Institution offers access to primary sources and other resources on a wide variety of topics, including military and political history. http://www.si.edu/

This site would be great for high school students! Students can research primary documents or they can look at online exhibits of various topics that have already been compiled. When looking at the exhibits, an explanation is given and then various photos and videos are shown. This is a great resource for primary documents!

The Truman Library provides some great lessons and primary documents for elementary to secondary students. Various documents can be found including cartoons, audio clips, print resources, and photographs. A chronology of events during Truman's presidency highlights his contributions to history. Great for history or government classes to explore.

Through audio files, this website is a collection of speeches in United States History from various political figures and activists . These sources give a glimpse into events and viewpoints in our history such as the Civil Rights Movement or the Challenger's disastrous flight. Middle School students will be able to listen to what was really said by that individual and what it meant for that time period.

American Rhetoric allows students to take a step into the past and feel as though they are living in a particular time period. I can imagine a class closing their eyes and listening to the powerful words of JFK in his "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech, or the determination in Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. Transcripts of each speech are also available on the site, as well as photos that help the students visualize the speaker and the time period. Extremely motivating!

Find correspondence between Reagan and Soviet leaders as well as a draft of the speech Reagan delivered at the Berlin Wall. These are some of the primary sources available at the site. There is also a whole unit on Reagan and the Cold War as well as other events that took place during his presidency. High school students in history classes would benefit most from this site.

When students are asked to research the Civil War, this website provides a variety of documents that are interesting and helpful to students.  I enjoyed looking at documents that were personal stories from the war.  I think students will also like reading about the Civil War from multiple perspectives.

This site explains the laws in Nebraska related to employment and unemployment. Designed to assist employers as well as workers, this site also provides access to online application for unemployment benefits.

Nebraska Dept of Labor is an important reference for employers and employees. Students would be encouraged to look through this site for pages that related to them, including potential job listings. As part of their vocational preparation, this site offers a plethora of resources for workers and future workers. Additionally, it would be recommended that the students research when and how they can access unemployment benefits through this site.
