A 21-year-old woman, who had last month lodged a police complaint of rape against a father-son duo from Kalyan, has now retracted her allegations. The woman from Uttar Pradesh, Yasmeen Baig, has approached the Bombay high court and the police, claiming that she had lodged a false complaint against Shafique Shaikh and his 20-year-old son Aatesham alias Sonu. Yasmeen and Aatesham got married last week. On June 16, Yasmeen had accused Shafique and Aatesham - now her father-in-law and husband respectively - of having raped her over a period of time. Aatesham and Yasmeen were in love and wanted to get married. However, when his father learnt about this, he refused to grant consent to their marriage. This, said Yasmeen, had spurred her to lodge a police complaint against Shafique and Aatesham.

A judge has dismissed a felony charge against a woman accused of falsely reporting that she was raped by a former boyfriend. Judge G. Todd Baugh has granted a defense motion to dismiss a charge of fabricating evidence filed against Christina Nadine Nelson. The judge said in an order issued Tuesday that evidence clearly showed Nelson lied when she reported the rape to police and hospital staff, but the prosecution's reliance on a report from a sexual assault examination is misplaced.

A Missouri man who spent three decades in prison for rape he didn't commit is now a free man. 49 year old Robert Nelson was convicted in 1984 of rape, sodomy and robbery. He was identified by the rape victim as one of the men involved in the crime. But after the Midwest Innocence Project got involved, Nelson's DNA was tested and showed that he was not the perpetrator.

A South Africa man will leave jail on Wednesday after having spent 10 years behind bars because his daughter falsely accused him of rape. Cedric Shezi was arrested soon after his daughter, Pinky Dube, accused him of the horrible crime and he received a life sentence after being convicted of two counts of rape in 2005. Dube will be waiting to see him when he is released.

An 18-year-old Venetia woman is facing perjury charges after investigators said she lied about being raped in the parking lot of the South Park wave pool last year. According to the criminal complaint, Katelyn Webster told authorities she raped by Matthew Folino while sitting in the pool's parking lot in June 2012. Webster told police that Folino put his hands around her neck to hold her down. There were marks on her neck to validate her story.

A reported rape on the UC Santa Cruz campus that shocked a community already on edge has turned out to be a hoax, UCSC police said Thursday. The attack was alleged to have occurred in broad daylight just after noon on Sunday, Feb. 17, just days after the shooting of a student as she waited for a bus. Two women are now facing felony charges after filing a false rape report this weekend in Fort Smith. Police arrested 19-year-old Heather Smith and her 21-year-old roommate Jeni Melton, after they claimed two unidentified men came into their apartment and raped Smith. Police were called to Roosters Bar on Garrison Avenue around 4:41 a.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with Smith and Melton about the alleged incident. The women told police they had left Roosters around 3 a.m. and shortly after they arrived at their residents on Birnie Avenue, two men came into their home uninvited. According to the report, one suspect pinned Melton to the floor, while the second raped Smith in a back bedroom.

When you are a parent of a teen, there are no dearth of things to worry about. These days, it seems, false accusations of rape are one of them. There are a growing number of cases in which we are discovering an imprisoned young man was falsely accused. That fact was further highlighted when we learned that Wanetta Gibson's 1993 claim -- that her 17-year-old classmate Brian Banks had raped her -- turned out to be a lie. He spent five years of his life in prison before being exonerated. It's a tragedy that not only ruins that person's life, but also can cast doubt when other women come forward with truthful claims. Though, a recent ruling will make people as unscrupulous as Gibson think twice before lying.

A former Chicago Police sergeant whose rape conviction was overturned in 2011 has filed a lawsuit against the woman who accused him. John Herman filed the suit in Cook County Circuit Court Friday, claiming that the woman falsely accused him to get money from the city. The woman had sued the city in federal court and received a $1.5 million dollar legal settlement, the Sun-Times reported at the time of the 2011 Illinois Appellate Court decision that overturned Herman's conviction. According to the suit, Herman had consensual sex with the woman in her apartment on March 9, 2004. She later accused Herman of kidnapping her, driving to her apartment and forcing her to have sex with him at gunpoint, the Sun-Times reported. Herman is claiming that the woman's accusations and the resulting prosecution caused him to lose his job, damaged his reputation and caused him to serve four years in prison. Herman was convicted of rape and sentenced to 25 years in prison, but the Illinois Appellate Court overturned the conviction on October 2, 2011, according to the suit. The three-count suit charges the woman with malicious prosecution, abuse of process and defamation and asks for more than $100,000 in damages.

The girl, who is now aged 18, told gardaí that her mother made her file a complaint when she was about ten years old claiming her uncle had abused her. The 41-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had maintained his innocence until the trial but pleaded guilty on the day because he said he was "completely terrified" of going to prison. He believed a guilty plea offered the best chance of avoiding a jail sentence. He had pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to rape and serious sexual assault at a house in Galway city on a date between 1 September 2004 and 28 February 2005.

A JEALOUS boyfriend told his girlfriend to make up a rape allegation against the man she had been unfaithful with, a court heard. The claim led to alleged victim Zabir Khan being arrested on suspicion of rape, interviewed and locked up in a police cell. He also had intimate swabs taken. The claim was made by 23-year-old Husen Patel's girlfriend, Jade Leech, after Patel punched her in the face when he found out she had been unfaithful with Mr Khan, her cousin's boyfriend, Bolton Crown Court heard.

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- A married Camp Pendleton Marine was sentenced in military court Thursday to a loss of $3,000 in pay and a letter of reprimand for attempted adultery and obstructing justice after claiming she had been raped by a fellow Marine. The woman, a staff sergeant whose name was being withheld, was facing a year in the brig and dishonorable discharge. The case began when the woman's husband, who is also a Marine, filed an adultery complaint with her commanders after she and another staff sergeant checked into a hotel following an afternoon of heavy drinking last year.
