Planner solution. All the money in the world won't save the world. What they need is personal attention, not personal checks.

Has some good statistics. Highlights the lack of treatment available to people in Africa.

This shows why healthcare in Africa is so poor. We need to keep this in mind while searching for solutions.

Canadian Organization that needs individual donations to ehlp make a better tomorrow. It seems they are helping children who are suffering from major diseases and injuries. They are not just looking for overall betterment of the area, but instead, one child at a time.

Another organization targeting individuals to give money to those in need. The biggest problem with these organizations is their integrity. Many times, a majority of the money a person donates will go to the organization an dnot the needy. How can we refine the system?

I'm not sure if anyone else can view all the stats on this page, but these are stats for Shafii. He is the Compassion child I sponsor. For $1/day I am able to provide him with healthcare, schooling, school supplies, etc. This is one way that has been established to help those is need, but there are several ways in which it can be improved.

Puts forth some ideas that could make NGO's more effective. One thing noted is that even NGO's have to pay their employees wages high enough to have a low turnover rate, or else they cannot be effective.

The economic situation is affecting healthcare in Zimbabwe. Food prices are going up, making it harder for mothers to provide good nutrition for their children. There are not enough funds for supplies and personnel, and doctors and nurses cannot be paid fair wages.

Possible way to provide healthcare facilities to areas in need. I wonder if it is realistic to create an organization whose sole purpose is building reflief clinics?

This organization works to fight against poverty by providing health care and development to those communities and families that can't afford it. Interestingly, on its mission statement page, one of its operating principles listed is Accountability, which is what Easterly said was one of the things that seperated planners and searchers.

Interesting video that looks at NGO's and how they have in treated the African people that they support with their own programs that they think will benefit the people and not what the people themselves believe that they need. Also it says that one NGO in Ghana asked a girl to cry for a video they were making, in order to help raise more money, but that money did not even go to that girl/her people.

The earth's core is very hot!  If we can tap into this renewable source of energy, we will be able to satisfy a large chunk of our energy needs while simultaneously cutting down emissions and pollution dramatically.

HeyHeyfriends is a new social network for sharing to your friends in Korea and Oversea. It's a sweet simple site, and it operates much like an actual social network! HeyHeyfriends allows users to create a profile for themselves. Users can upload a picture of them and can often be "friends" with other users. In HeyHeyfriends, both users must confirm that they are friends before they are linked. For example, if user A lists user B as a friend, then User B would have to approve User A's friend request before they are listed as friends. HeyHeyfriends allows users to create groups in workplace, Schools/colleges, university and funny things that share common interests, upload photos and music, and share yours niche by writing blog. Also user may add html code in he/she profile for embedding videos, flash tools and links for respective need.
