Joseph Hill University of California Davis From Praxis: "Being a philosophy minor and English major, I constantly look at interactions that take place between the different disciplines and ways in which life can be approached from a philosophical standpoint. Existentialism is a philosophy that piqued my interest with its reliance on the precedence of the individual and the consequentiality of man's choices."

One of the recurrent questions we ask ourselves as writing center practitioners is what we're doing: basically, what our theoretical assumptions are about our work, and how they inform (or fail to inform, or even hinder) that work.

When the time comes, register as a member of the organization and attend the conference. Perhaps you may wish to run for office or participate in elections. While many scholars have been expressing the need for more recognition for creative writing studies for some time, the field is still young and the organization is brand new.

The Writing Centres of the University of Waterloo, the University of Guelph, and Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada, collaborated on the production of this online and publicly-available writing resource, www.WriteOnline.ca. Taking a WID approach, the website introduces students to writing three assignment genres -- a lab report, a case study report, and a reflective essay -- through descriptive text, models, and interactive activities.
