    "C-SPAN has announced the dates for its 2011 Summer Educators' Conference. Each summer we host a day and a half long conference at C-SPAN's headquarters in the heart of Washington, DC. Airfare to and from Washington, two nights' hotel stay, and meals during the conference are all provided by C-SPAN. This year's conference will be July 14 - July 15"

    from Free Tech 4 Teachers: "C-Span Classroom has created some new resources and updated some old resources for teachers for the 2010/2011 school year. C-Span's video library includes a section called Constitution Clips. Constitution Clips is comprised of videos of members of Congress and Presidents giving speeches that relate to sections of the US Constitution. For each section of the Constitution there is a selection of videos ready for you to use in your classroom. The videos can be embedded into your class blog or website."

    C-Span is hosting a documentary video creation contest for middle school and high school students. The contest is open to middle school and high school students. To enter, students need to create a documentary video 5-8 minutes long about an issue, event, or topic that has helped them understand the role of the federal government in their lives. The prizes for the winners of the contest range from $250 to $5,000 for students and $125 to $1000 for the students' schools.

    Each entry should reflect this year's theme: "The Constitution and You: Select any provision of the U.S. Constitution and create a video illustrating why it's important to you." Your documentary may focus on any section of the Preamble, Articles, or Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. You should not focus your documentary on failed or proposed amendments that have yet to pass. The entry must be the original work of the student(s), hereafter referred to as "entrant(s)." Students in grades 6-8 will be considered "middle school" entrants; grades 9-12 will be considered "high school" entrants.
