11 Reasons to Keep Screens out of the Sanctuary - 0 views

  •
An interesting take on the topic. Not really 11, many are about how hard it is to sing with the displays. I have noticed that in some congregations we visit. I post this not to endorse the 11, but so that those of us that may be advocating for such technology understand the level of despise that may come with the displays from some members.

Could You Lose All Your Social Media Followers? - Jenn's TrendsJenn's Trends - 0 views

  •
Shared by Cindy Krueger I've been following Jenn's Trends on Facebook for social media hints and tips. I'm sharing her recent blog post about protecting and recovering hacked social media accounts. One item of note is the LogDog tool to help protect your accounts. This topic is of special concern because I know a couple people with high profile accounts that have been hacked recently. Fortunately each was able to work with the social media company to get the account restored. Maybe less of a concern for churches and schools that have in person contact with followers but still something people will want to avoid if possible.

Bootstrap - 3 views

  • Bootstrap is a standards-based curriculum for middle-school students, which teaches them to program their own videogames using purely algebraic and geometric concepts.
  • Unlike most programming tools, Bootstrap uses algebra as the vehicle for creating images and animations. That means that concepts students encounter in Bootstrap behave the exact same way that they do in math class.
  • Bootstrap lessons cover mathematical topics that range from simple arithmetic expressions to the Pythagorean Theorem, Discrete Logic, Function Composition and the Distance Formula.

I really like this approach especially with topics that students will have difficulty getting help with at home. Sal Khan is a big supporter of the backwards/flip method too: http://www.ted.com/talks/salman_khan_let_s_use_video_to_reinvent_education.html
