Could You Lose All Your Social Media Followers? - Jenn's TrendsJenn's Trends - 0 views

  •
Shared by Cindy Krueger I've been following Jenn's Trends on Facebook for social media hints and tips. I'm sharing her recent blog post about protecting and recovering hacked social media accounts. One item of note is the LogDog tool to help protect your accounts. This topic is of special concern because I know a couple people with high profile accounts that have been hacked recently. Fortunately each was able to work with the social media company to get the account restored. Maybe less of a concern for churches and schools that have in person contact with followers but still something people will want to avoid if possible.

How to Make Your iPhone or iPad Read Kindle Books to You - The Pastor's Week - 1 views

Great tip. Macs have this feature too in some Apple apps (Mail, Pages 5, etc.) under Edit > Start Speaking. There also a chrome extension called "read & write" for this on the web. Article makes a good point that this is better for "lighter" fare. :) Also, hadn't heard of this blog until now, and will now be following it.

LastPass - Automatic Log Off Preferences - 2 views

  •
Wondered how to have my LastPass extension log off automatically after a certain duration of time, etc. Otherwise, if someone stole my laptop, I'd still be logged in to LP and they'd have access to all my passwords. Good, simple options in LP Preferences...

Free Online OCR - convert scanned PDF and images to Word, JPEG to Word - 0 views

I sometimes want to copy and paste some text from a PDF that wasn't scanned with OCR (e.g. some essays in the Seminary Essay File). I take a screenshot of the paragraph and upload the screenshot file here. (Screenshot-selection-to-file shortcut on a Mac is CMD + SHIFT + 4.)

Potent LastPass exploit underscores the dark side of password managers | Ars Technica - 2 views

  •
LastPass has 90 days to fix the potential exploit before ProjectZero releases the exploit to the public. The Mac Geek Gab Podcast recommends switching password managers if LastPass has not "patched the hole" in half the time (May 1). I personally have LP on all my devices, having paid money for the mobile version. 1Password seems to have a stronger reputation from the podcasts and bloggers I follow, but the desktop app was much more expensive than LastPass. Perhaps I'm getting what I've paid for. :(

Thanks for this article Emile. It looks like LastPass has implemented a fix, announced last Friday. https://blog.lastpass.com/2017/03/security-update-for-the-lastpass-extension.html/
