Wheelchair : Handicap Products: Wheelchair Safety With Power Wheelchairs - 0 views

Folding Lightweight Wheelchairs For indoor wheelchair safety the folding power wheelchair models that are lightweight have front casters which turn easily, making them ideal for use in small apartments. Having the casters in front makes this a dangerous chair to use outdoors as the front wheels can turn sharply if encountering a crack in the sidewalk, incline, or rocks.Wheelchair india is manufacturer, supplier, distributor and dealer of Karma KP 10-2 Power Wheelchair for disabled and handicapped in india. They usually have one or two removable batteries and have a similar appearance as the manual wheelchair. They can be controlled with a joystick or a sip and puff method. Lightweight Power Assisted Wheelchairs These chairs can be propelled in a similar manner as the manual wheelchair or use a battery. You may want this type if you want to keep fit and get some exercise but need some power when going up an incline or when traveling a distance. They are smaller and lighter weight than the folding wheelchair and have smaller batteries and motors. Dual Purpose Power Wheelchairs These chairs generally are good for either indoor or outdoor use. You need to have larger wheels in front for outdoors as this is a safety feature. It is better to have six wheels for stability when traveling outdoors. These indoor/outdoor power chairs compromise wheelchair safety and perform poorly when you do not have enough room to turn indoors and you need to travel over rough ground and uneven surfaces. Their optimum performance indoors is when you have wider doors and hallways in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or homes/apartments. Ideal outdoor surfaces in urban and suburban areas would include sidewalks and paved areas. Outdoor Power Wheelchairs These chairs weigh as much as 400-500 pounds, add the weight of the user up to 250 pounds and the total weight is approximately 650 pounds. They are very efficient outdoors with their rear wheels they can sa

MATERNITY CLOTHING - THE ULTIMATE GUIDE - 0 views

  •
Pregnancy comes with lots of changes, and that that includes wardrobe changes! As the female body undergoes significant physical and physiological changes, many find it difficult to get themselves organized. Many pregnant women seek a guide to maternity clothing, especially when the baby bump starts showing up. You don't have to wait until the baby bump shows up before you start shopping for your maternity outfits. The moment you find out you are pregnant is a good time to start thinking of your maternity outfits. Knowing that it might be difficult for you to shop for items or picture what you would look like in maternity clothing, this article has been created as your ultimate guide to maternity clothing shopping. WHY YOU NEED TO SHOP FOR MATERNITY CLOTHING If you are pregnant, especially if you are a first-time mom, the chances are high that you have asked several questions about maternity and maternity clothing, such as, "Do I really need maternity apparel? Isn't it a waste of money buying maternity apparel?" The fact is that shopping for maternity outfits is not a must, but you'd hardly get past your third trimester without needing certain maternity clothing items. You might be tempted to improvise, but the question you have to ask yourself is, "Is improving safety for my baby and me?" SHOPPING MATERNITY OUTFITS IS A NECESSARY STEP FOR EVERY EXPECTING MOM You need to shop for some basic maternity outfits because, as much as possible, you need comfort when you are pregnant. Pregnancy makes you gain additional weight. Pregnancy is one of the reasons it is easier for women to gain weight and harder for them to lose weight. Expect that your clothes will start getting tight, especially around the abdominal area. This will make you feel restricted. The tight outfit can obstruct the free circulation of blood to all parts of the body and can cause body pain. You already have many pregnancy symptoms like nausea, fatigue and baby kicks to deal with and won

Boys' Bedroom Blunders - 0 views

Boys' Bedroom Blunders Boys' Bedroom Blunders Sex - it's exciting. But sometimes, unfortunately, it's confusing and disappointing instead. We'd all like to believe that we know what to do when it comes to sex, but blunders do happen. So what can you do to minimize wrong-turns in the bedroom? Here's a list of the commonest mistakes men make with women. Avoid these and you'll maximize both you and your partner's sexual satisfaction! Not kissing, or kissing badly A woman's arousal is greatly increased by kissing - both gentle and passionate. Women love the connection and it's a major aspect of foreplay. Think of it as "upper persuasion for a lower invasion". Diving straight for the naughty bits Reaching too quickly for the breasts or vulva is a passion-killer for women; it's more likely to annoy than to arouse. Take time to build excitement touching her body elsewhere. The skin of a woman is second only to her brain as a sex organ. Being too rough A frequent complaint women have is that men aren't gentle enough. Men generally want a firmer touch then women do - so keep your touch light. She may want a more forceful touch as she becomes aroused. Take your cues from her. Pushing her head down Women hate this passionately! Do not push her head down to your dick thinking it will get you anywhere good. Women resent this. Forcing her head down during fellatio Along the same lines - never force her head farther down on your cock. Yes, it may feel good, but she needs to control the depth and speed. You may gently hold her head, or stroke her hair or cheek. Take care to not thrust yourself into her mouth either. You may find blowjobs non-existent if you do this. Not warning her you are about to cum during oral sex Not all women like the taste of cum. Give her the choice to decide what to do. Latching onto her nipples Women's breasts are very sensitive to touch. Caress and stroke them. Don't thump, squeeze, twiddle or bite them (unless she's into that). Tou

Cervical Collar Hard Adjustable With Chin - 0 views

  •
The soft cervical collar is constructed of foam rubber and covered with a stockinette material. Normally, the closure is achieved with Velcro. Depending on the patient's pathology and body structure, physician and/or orthotist will determine the proper height of the collar. When worn, the soft cervical collar is a reminder to keep in head and neck in a restricted position. It is the mildest design of cervical immobilization. Cervical collars are applied to blunt trauma patients all the time. And most of the time, the neck is fine. It's just those few patients that have fracture or ligamentous injury that really need it. The Cervical Collar provides firm, comfortable support which helps to relieve neck discomfort while providing extra support. Cervical Collar has a convenient hook and loop closure which allows the unit to be adjusted for a proper fit. The Cervical Collar is constructed of soft, porous cotton cover for comfort which is over polyfoam for the best support. Cervical collars are an orthotic device used primarily in the treatment of neck injuries and strains. The most common use of cervical collars is during recovery after surgery on the cervical spine. They are also used in whiplash injuries and conditions like Cervical Radiculopathy, which is caused by the nerves in the neck compressing due to herniated disks in the spinal cord. The main function of the cervical collar is to immobilize the neck and hold it in a gravity-neutral position Tynor Cervical Collar Hard Adjustable is used for supporting, immobilizing or adjusting the neck in the flexion, extension, or hyperextension position. Recommended where a rigid immobilization of the cervical region is required. Anatomical shape. Comfortable edge padding. Adjustable height. Slight weight. Latex free. The soft cervical collar is not designed to completely restrict motion. It depends on providing resistance to movement, which tells the patient to restrict their movements. The soft collar i

A folding wheelchair is more compact than a conventional wheelchair which makes them ideal for storing, especially in homes with limited storage space. Seat width and depth- If the chair is too big or too small it will be difficult to use and uncomfortable. Pelvic (hip) position and support- If your hips are not positioned well, it might be hard to use your arms and it could make you tired. Basically, your hips are the base of your support when you are sitting, it is important to know if they are straight or if one side is higher than the other. Cushion- A VERY important part of the wheelchair! You need to feel stable and have a cushion that will decrease the possibility of a pressure sore. Ideally, the clinic will pressure map you sitting on the cushion. Leg support- Footrest angle, leg rest length, foot support (strap?) - it is important your feet are aligned well so you have as much support to sit up as well as possible. You can what feels most supportive. Appropriate trunk support- The back support of the wheelchair will help you stay upright and increase your endurance. Just like a good seat in a car, if it is comfortable and you are able to move as freely as possible and have the support you need, you can drive longer and be m

Wheelchair : Handicap Products: Benefit Of Reclining Wheelchair - 0 views

  •
For people who spend the majority of their days sitting in standard wheelchairs or lying in beds, pressure sores are a very probable reality. Yet they don't have to be, thanks to assistive technology like tilt or recline wheelchairs that help distribute pressure to other parts of the body. While pressure relief is the main objective to using either a tilt wheelchair or a recline wheelchair, each has its unique qualities that help with posture. (Even though some chairs come with both tilt and recline options, for clarity purposes, they will be addressed as two separate seating systems.) "Obviously, a tilt wheelchair does a better job of providing postural stability by not changing any of the angles of the knee and hip, while recliners allow the pelvis and hips to move through approximately 90 degrees of motion. Both seating systems have their own specific functions," noted David Kreutz, PT, seating specialist at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Reclining wheelchairs move the body from a flexed position to an extended position, making the chairs more likely to elicit a spastic response in the user. Because tilt and recline chairs use gravity to their advantage and come with head rests, patients who have poor head, neck and trunk control may benefit from the stability and balance they provide. When in tilt or recline, gravity helps the patient improve balance and head control. Once a tilt chair is prescribed for a patient, it is important to teach the caregivers how to use the tilt function and position the patient correctly. If a patient is cognitively intact, it is also important to teach that individual how he or she should be positioned in the chair, to be able to instruct caregivers. Candidates who would be suited for a recliner chair are those who cannot achieve a 90-degree hip-to-back angle when sitting. For example, patients who have hip precautions following total hip replacement surgery, patients who have had cardiac surgery and might develop

Human cells exhibit foraging behavior like amoebae and bacteria - 0 views

  • "As far as we can tell, this is the first time this type of behavior has been reported in cells that are part of a larger organism," says Peter T. Cummings, John R. Hall Professor of Chemical Engineering, who directed the study that is described in the March 10 issue of the Public Library of Science journal PLoS ONE. The discovery was the unanticipated result of a study the Cummings group conducted to test the hypothesis that the freedom with which different cancer cells move - a concept called motility - could be correlated with their aggressiveness: That is, the faster a given type of cancer cell can move through the body the more aggressive it is. "Our results refute that hypothesis—the correlation between motility and aggressiveness that we found among three different types of cancer cells was very weak," Cummings says. "In the process, however, we began noticing that the cell movements were unexpectedly complicated." Then the researchers' interest was piqued by a paper that appeared in the February 2008 issue of the journal Nature titled, "Scaling laws of marine predator search behaviour." The paper contained an analysis of the movements of a variety of radio-tagged marine predators, including sharks, sea turtles and penguins. The authors found that the predators used a foraging strategy very close to a specialized random walk pattern, called a Lévy walk, an optimal method for searching complex landscapes. At the end of the paper's abstract they wrote, "...Lévy-like behaviour seems to be widespread among diverse organisms, from microbes to humans, as a 'rule' that evolved in response to patchy resource distributions." This gave Cummings and his colleagues a new perspective on the cell movements that they were observing in the microscope. They adopted the basic assumption that when mammalian cells migrate they face problems, such as efficiently finding randomly distributed targets like nutrients and growth factors, that are analogous to those faced by single-celled organisms foraging for food. With this perspective in mind, Alka Potdar, now a post-doctoral fellow at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic, cultured cells from three human mammary epithelial cell lines on two-dimensional plastic plates and tracked the cell motions for two-hour periods in a "random migration" environment free of any directional chemical signals. Epithelial cells are found throughout the body lining organs and covering external surfaces. They move relatively slowly, at about a micron per minute which corresponds to two thousandths of an inch per hour. When Potdar carefully analyzed these cell movements, she found that they all followed the same pattern. However, it was not the Lévy walk that they expected, but a closely related search pattern called a bimodal correlated random walk (BCRW). This is a two-phase movement: a run phase in which the cell travels primarily in one direction and a re-orientation phase in which it stays in place and reorganizes itself internally to move in a new direction. In subsequent studies, currently in press, the researchers have found that several other cell types (social amoeba, neutrophils, fibrosarcoma) also follow the same pattern in random migration conditions. They have also found that the cells continue to follow this same basic pattern when a directional chemical signal is added, but the length of their runs are varied and the range of directions they follow are narrowed giving them a net movement in the direction indicated by the signal.
  •
When cells move about in the body, they follow a complex pattern similar to that which amoebae and bacteria use when searching for food, a team of Vanderbilt researchers have found. The discovery has a practical value for drug development: Incorporating this basic behavior into computer simulations of biological processes that involve cell migration, such as embryo development, bone remodeling, wound healing, infection and tumor growth, should improve the accuracy with which these models can predict the effectiveness of untested therapies for related disorders, the researchers say.

WHY AM I NOT LOSING WEIGHT? - 0 views

  •
It's happened to all of us - you start making healthy choices and get so motivated and excited that when you don't see results quickly, it's crushingly disappointing. Sometimes it's even enough to make you doubt your choices and slip back into old unhealthy habits. HOLD UP. Don't give up just yet. There are many plausible and fixable reasons as to why your weight loss may have stalled out! When you eat too few calories, your body goes into starvation mode. This is the biological response to start storing fat as quickly as possible because your body is unsure as to when it might get to eat next. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so the more of it that you cultivate, the more calories you burn… without even trying. You're not exercising enough.

Electric Wheelchair For Increased Independence - 0 views

  •
Electric wheelchair is a chair fitted with wheels. The device comes in variations allowing either manual propulsion by the seated occupant turning the rear wheels by hand, or electric propulsion by motors. There are often handles behind the seat to allow for different individuals to push. Electric Wheelchairs are used by people for whom walking is difficult or impossible due to illness, injury, or disability. Disabled People who have difficulty sitting and walking often make use of a wheelbench. A basic manual wheelchair incorporates a seat, foot rests and four wheels: two, caster wheels at the front and two large wheels at the back. The two larger wheels in the back usually have handrims; two metal or plastic circles. Electric wheelchairs are propelled by a motor and battery. They are very sophisticated. They are operated with a joy stick or push buttons. Some electric wheelchairs use advanced technology and can climb up stairs, move across gravel and even raise up to give access to high shelves. Electric wheelchairs need strong frames to support the motor and battery so they are very heavy and also quite expensive. People with spinal cord injuries face similar decisions. Often a person with a spinal cord injury will use a motorized wheelchair, even though they are physically capable of using a manual chair. They don't do this because they are lazy. They do this to be more efficient with their energy reserves. People with spinal cord injuries often choose motorized wheelchairs to preserve their physical energy, so that they can complete the work. Sometimes need to save on physical energy so that have some allowance left over for intellectual or emotional pursuits.
