In a world where anyone with an internet connection can access, create and share information, opinions and beliefs, it has become increasingly important that students are not only able to assess the credibility of sources but also to look more deeply at the underlying motivations, beliefs and bias of the creator.

Any internet search will show that there are a huge number of online tools available for the creation on polls and surveys. The ones included here are some of the best I have used and show some of the variety of polling tools available.

Some ways to make you site mobile friendly

For as long as I can remember I've been using avatars to teach Internet safety. It's a fun and engaging way to teach students the importance of protecting their identities when they are online and a great prelude to using a variety of web 2.0 tools to support the curriculum.

As educators we are faced with the challenge of teaching students to efficiently use the Internet to find and use information. Searching for information and making sense of it is a process that involves critical thinking and it is an important skill. Fortunately, there are many free digital tools available to help students efficiently sift through an overwhelming abundance of web content to find the relevant and reliable information they need. This post will explore some digital resources to provide educators with tools to help all students become savvy searchers and independent learners.

Save For Later Put articles, videos or pretty much anything into Pocket. Save directly from your browser or from apps like Twitter, Flipboard, Pulse and Zite. Ways to Pocket: View When Ready If it's in Pocket, it's on your phone, tablet or computer. You don't even need an Internet connection.

List of internet safety tools and resources to keep kids protected while they are online

A list of search engines by topic they cover, purportedly a "comprehensive" list of engines.

Symbaloo is an idea of Tim Has and has the mission to make the web more accessible. It was founded together with Koen Dantuma and Robert Broeders early 2007. Since June 2007 Symbaloo is available in The Netherlands, Spain, France, the UK and the US in beta.

I've been using symbaloo and in particular edu.symbaloo.com to share a many types of web based toolsand resources with my students. Truly a great and useful tool.
