This simple 3 page Guitar Primer attempts to satisfy webprog-1-g, and give guitar curious wannabes the guidance they need to get started right!

Cool--getting my 2 month old started on air guitar with impossibly loud stereo to start. Glad he's setting off on the right foot. (Well, that metaphor is a little off, for now.)

I found this and thought of using word press last semester for 501 and how i didnt like any of the themes that much. if i had seen this then, i might have gone through and made my own... you never know

In case I haven't answered elsewhere. You can do as many of the challenges as you like. Take a look over the syllabus for information as to how completion is related to grades. And yes, in response to the first time around, I've provided a longer deadline, for more flexibility. Generally, the work is due within one week after the module is scheduled. And yes, I use Diigo to find everything you've done--so if you want me to see it, make sure you bookmark it and let me know what you want it to count for (e.g., webprog-1-b, like this one).

Nice work here. Some people might look at this code like it has 3 heads--because it does! Each html document should have only 1 head section. But it renders great, and that's all we need for this challenge.

Unfortunately, the page isn't validating. You need to track down and squash those bugs :). Some of them are the ones I mentioned earlier, I believe. Be sure to let me know when it's validating so I can recheck. Thanks!

This is fine for the assignment, but note that it will not validate (I assume). Take a look at that second <ul>. You've got an un-nested <p> tag there--it starts before the <ul> and ends before the </ul>. Actually, that <p> is extraneous, so you can just delete it...

Little ditty 'bout Katie McLaughlin...

Take a look at the course blog for the topic "TextEdit Travails." Looks like you need to set the preferences to "plain text." Go ahead and do this, and re-upload (and re-tag, so I look at it again), and you should be good.

Clearly this page doesn't pertain to learning HTML per se, but it helps put in to perspective the whole notion of learning a new skill/language/subject. Knowing HTML may quite possibly be the one attribute that helps one candidate land a coveted job over another. Or, it may never come up in our careers -- but our minds will have been made "more interesting" nonetheless.

Never knew this site had tutorials in all the years I've gone to it. The "font" section looks like it'd be especially helpful when doing the challenge to spruce up your recipe page. Good luck.

This page is just a basic intro/course description for an HTML class taught at UC Berkeley. It's really just a few sentences, but it's one of those short on words/long on meaning pieces of text that I admire because it gets to the meat of what HTML is all about in a very intelligent way. What struck me, though, was the line that states: "... it's valuable to know HTML even if your day job involves working with a content management system... " I work with a CMS all day! As I've mentioned before, I work for CNN.com and mainly produce interactive features and such, yet I know shockingly little about them there Internets! This course will hopefully help me bridge that gap between the material I am comfortable with, and that which intimidates me.

We used W3Schools in ICM512 to learn XHTML. For CSS, they offer how/why use CSS, do-it-yourself tutorials, and mini quizzes. Should be very helpful in this module.

To paraphrase Denzel Washington's character in "Philadelphia" (Heck, this may even be a direct quote considering I've seen this film so many times... ): "I want you to explain it to me like I'm a two-year-old." This site does just that! When I am learning a new skill, I want material that is utterly foreign to me to be Kindergarten-ized as much as possible. I would not be the least offended if I saw the following (and hopefully with pictures!): "See Spot mark up the plain text document. Mark up the plain text document, Spot, mark up the plain text document!"

Here is a recipe for thin, crispy sugar cookies that are honestly like nothing else you have probably ever had. They are so tasty and remind me a of every Christmas growing up, enjoy!

This site helped to give a little background on this issue of HTML vs XHTML.

I found this site to be helpful when learning the HTML process. It gives a brief overview of adding color when creating a web page.
