Ok I know what you are thinking...why is he bookmarking a flash reference site - flash in a web programming class? Well I decided it was important to bookmark the ActionScript reference page because the structure of ActionScript 3 is similar to javascript used in many webpages. No, you don't need javascript to create a webpage, but adding it can allow for additional site functionality. It is also important to know the potential of integrating flash into a website and allowing for variables to be passed form the webpage and communicated to the flash movie.
Download a .pdf of a CSS Cheat Sheet that looks very much like the one Alex is seen using in his Module 2 CSS lectures. Could it be? :) There are other Cheat Sheets on the site as well.
Here is a page about MySQL. It explains why MySQL is the world's largest open source database and why it is usually the top choice when selecting database technology.
Webmonkey, which I found while doing in ICM 501, is a great resource. I like the fact that it is at the "Primate" level of skill and yet has a 4-out of-5 banana rating. For those who aren't into coding and have a hard time remembering what kind of tags go before what you want to do, it's great to have open in a different window to reference.
Never knew this site had tutorials in all the years I've gone to it. The "font" section looks like it'd be especially helpful when doing the challenge to spruce up your recipe page. Good luck.
This is a great website that explains PHP in a very simple manner and includes pictures, tutorials and much much more. I found it VERY helpful when trying to gain a grasp of what exactly PHP is.
To paraphrase Denzel Washington's character in "Philadelphia" (Heck, this may even be a direct quote considering I've seen this film so many times... ):
"I want you to explain it to me like I'm a two-year-old."
This site does just that! When I am learning a new skill, I want material that is utterly foreign to me to be Kindergarten-ized as much as possible. I would not be the least offended if I saw the following (and hopefully with pictures!):
"See Spot mark up the plain text document. Mark up the plain text document, Spot, mark up the plain text document!"
I am getting into web programming and eventually into this technology :-) I think SaaS is the way of the future and SproutCore makes the browser-based web application a better experience!
An online training course from Web Developers Notes that explains the MySQL commands to create database tables: rows, columns, records, assigning unique id numbers to individuals records. At the news organization where I work, developers have used MySQL to create databases for Connecticut high school football and basketball statistics. The stats are all displayed in tables - check it out at http://data.courant.com/highschoolsports/basketball/home.aspx
This CSS cheat sheet is not really set up like a standard cheat sheet but it is easy to read and follow along. I think it will be helpful to those of us who need to be reminded of all the CSS shorthand.
Here is a PHP cheat sheet I found through a google search. It provides a reference for listing date format arguments, regular expression syntax and common functions.
The PHP cheat sheet I have bookmarked is an extensive overview of format arguments, regular expression syntax, and common functions. The best part is that it is a one page sheet, making it easy to find what you are looking for quickly.
This site also you to print off "cheat code" for a variety of programs including HTML and CSS. It may be useful for our class and easier to print off than make it yourself.
