I did this page for my personal web site. If you have seen the first, rough draft so to say of my sight, you will notice I have taken out the links as I am working on the site. But the links to the past projects work fine. If you click on the plus sign, you will see a description of the project, and if you click on the minus sign, the description will hide. I liked this idea because with all the descriptions on the page, the page looked too text heavy. This method allows the user to pick and choose which site they want to know more about, while not being overwhelmed or distracted by other text.

For the final project I completed the QU Campus map. The site utilizes PHP and CSS to pull in content and layout the site. The menus utilize CSS and PHP is used to pull in the images and code the label (or legend) section below the images. Google Maps API also integrates allowing users to view and zoom the campus. The site is best viewed using internet explorer, there are formatting issues for the CSS of the menus for those using Mozilla. Also did anyone notice that the official QU map is missing #34? They may want to consider addressing this... Anyhow have a great summer!

here's the 'home' for my 'rate my class' project. as of this posting, i've got the structure of the site all laid out, it just needs some cascadingly stylish touches. i didnt use any javascript on this yet either. i just wanted to get something posted in time for the class deadline. each class has its own php page, which pitches and catches to itself, and its own mysql table. the nav drop down links directly to each course. enjoy!

This is my final project. all the pages validate, and i have included the little icon the validation page provides you. I have used ajax and php on the first page to display course information when you select a course from the drop down menu. on the courses page, i have included a javascript validation to make sure you fill out all the fields if you want to submit a rating and comments. The php automatically displays the comment once posted. any questions, just ask! Thanks for everything

  It's complicated. W3C is considered the standards issueing group, and yes, they pretty much continually talk about what needs to happen in the next standard. In that, it's a bit like the video standards, with the MPEG group deciding what should be included as part of an MPEG-2 or MPEG-6 standard. However, it's also the case that there is a bit more variability in how well browsers follow that standard. As the book suggests, it's much better today than it was a few years back, when you would have effectively had to design different sites for each browser. There are still some oddities in Internet Explorer that you will likely have to design hacks for, but it's not like it used to be.
