i am re-bookmarking this site and re-tagging it with the mod 2 tag, because i have adjusted things a bit in my FTP... organized things a bit. So the old site bookmarked with the url http://thisandthat.nfshost.com/picturehome.html WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE. to reach that page, you need to hit this url: http://thisandthat.nfshost.com/moduletwo/picturehome.html which is the page bookmarked here. i did this because i am adjusting somethings on this page for mod 4 and when im done, i will retag with mod 4 challenges, but im not ready, at this point in time 3/10/09 to do that yet.

This method of drawing out the program steps is one of the best solutions for creating a program. My flow charts are usually not this complicated, but I have found them to be very helpful in creating the solution. It helps determine the switched ans loops required to complete the task - I typically will detail what type of loop i need between steps (where the arrows go). Doing one of these charts actually helped me solve the Fibonacci challenge

At 02:45 I point out something that perhaps doesn't fall under the category of worthwhile to our lesson, but whatever -- Rosie the Robot (of 'Jetsons' fame) would never need instructions on how to make a PB&J sandwich. She would make it with love, too. Also, she could not make 50,000 because she'd get tired.

I'm still having trouble understanding javascript - so I'm shooting for partial credit with this sub mod. Again, bowing to Erica's benevolence. Many thanks.

Hmm... unobtrusive is one thing, but this doesn't actually *do* anything so far as I can see...

This is Google's page that explains their Google Maps API. "The Google Maps API lets you embed Google Maps in your own web pages with JavaScript. The API provides a number of utilities for manipulating maps (just like on the http://maps.google.com web page) and adding content to the map through a variety of services, allowing you to create robust maps applications on your website." This is mentioned in Mod 6 and you can learn more about it by going to this site.

This site has lots of useful information re: javascript, event handlers, functions, etc. I found it particularly useful in doing the hw for Mod 5. It had so many script options I didn't even know where to start. Worth spending some time here!

Well, I doubt any of you are going to be *quite* ready for this, it would be a pretty impressive Mod 7 project :).

This comment on the 3-3 lecture may help you with future challenges involving php.

I asked 2 questions related to Javascript.

At the 17:23 mark in the first video of the JavaScript module, I asked if Professor Halavais could clarify some text on the screen. However, the text may have been blurred out deliberately since the surrounding text is fuzzy but not as bad. Just don't want to miss any important steps!

Its interesting that javascript is fading off the design of html pages, yet it is becoming a key tool for flash programming...maybe javascript was just misplaced in the early development of the web.

I posted a link to a MySQL database tutorial website. Although the video is already a tutorial to demonstrate the basics, as a beginner, it is good to glance at other tutorials as well.

I make a comment/ask a question regarding why background images must be as washed out as possible -- and suggest that it really ought to be up to the designer.

I place a comment/link on this page above the YouTube video (http://www.tizag.com/ajaxTutorial/index.php). It's a great site that has more general info regarding the use of Ajax with php, forms, and browsers. Good for newbies like myself!

I added a comment to the viddler timeline. This comment is useful in terms of validation. When you go to validate your pages and you have included "POST" the page does not validate. For validation purposes you must enter it as "post".

Web Hosting Suggestion -- For module 4, I've added a comment to video #3 (11:40). For anyone on a very tight budget, this web hosting site is similar to NearlyFreeSpeech (PHP, MySQL support), but it's 100% free. It's been working great so far.

I don't see a Viddler video lecture in module 6 and therefore can't figure out how to do challenge 6B; so I added a floating sticky note here. All I wanted to say was that 'Mashing' inherently makes me think of the Monster Mash and that I want to hear that song.
