This bookmark is a combination of 2-d and 2-f: it is my restyled recipe and horizontal menu for the CSS portion of the course. At first, I was a little hesitant / confused about learning the CSS formatting. Once I got used to the concept of the css formatting I found myself wiring code with ease. There was many back and forth between typing and viewing in the browser, but I got the hang of it. The one issue I had was with browser compatibility - the margin: auto; code did not render well in IE7, but had not bugs in firefox. The most difficult potion of the menu was hiding the attributes that the browser assumes should be included with a bulleted list and links hence why a css style sheet comes in handy.

Very nice. Should make it a habit to title your pages. But well done.

I don't see a Viddler video lecture in module 6 and therefore can't figure out how to do challenge 6B; so I added a floating sticky note here. All I wanted to say was that 'Mashing' inherently makes me think of the Monster Mash and that I want to hear that song. As one of my classmates pointed out...sometimes it's easier to learn complicated things when they are "kindergatenized" Here I found a site which appempts to explain PHP at the very bare minimum. I found it to be long and wordy...but I am actually understanding it, slowly.

Module 3 for me is beginning to shape up to be similar to Godfather III. At first I hated both but now I realize their value. OK, in this here bookmarked link, author Vikram Vaswani turns PHP into something akin to a nice novella with excellent screenshots as examples. This tutorial is engaging, friendly and filled to the brim with info.

A really nice, basic resource that explains PHP in a clear and understandable way. It makes a very nice complement to the instructional videos for the class.

Webmonkey, which I found while doing in ICM 501, is a great resource. I like the fact that it is at the "Primate" level of skill and yet has a 4-out of-5 banana rating. For those who aren't into coding and have a hard time remembering what kind of tags go before what you want to do, it's great to have open in a different window to reference.

I have found myself over the years Googling part of a HTML code to make sureI get it written correctly. Most of the time I will type in something like " just as a starting point. I think this site will help elimiate the need for many different sites. This looks to be a one stop shop for any common, and even some obscure HML coding.

It looks as though 2 other people submitted sites on color charts, so variety's purposes, here's a site that provides information on various web browsers. It's a bit of a learning experience -- did anyone else know there is a web browser called Firebug or Opera Dragonfly??

Ok I know what you are thinking...why is he bookmarking a flash reference site - flash in a web programming class? Well I decided it was important to bookmark the ActionScript reference page because the structure of ActionScript 3 is similar to javascript used in many webpages. No, you don't need javascript to create a webpage, but adding it can allow for additional site functionality. It is also important to know the potential of integrating flash into a website and allowing for variables to be passed form the webpage and communicated to the flash movie.

This is a more advanced tutorial on using Ajax and PHP to extract a list from a MySql database that can be done in a way that an ordered list can't provide. After you've created the database, you use PHP and Ajax to drag and drop data in the order you want it extracted, then you can save the data in this newly-defined order.

This site seems to have some basic (read: semi-easy to understand) information written in non-geek speak. Just the basic opening paragraph explained it to me better than reading a bunch of other pages I found

While by no means a complete reference, this page gives a much more thorough overview on MySQL that a lot of the other sites out there. I especially like the 'tips and functions' section.

I posted a link to a MySQL database tutorial website. Although the video is already a tutorial to demonstrate the basics, as a beginner, it is good to glance at other tutorials as well.

I make a comment/ask a question regarding why background images must be as washed out as possible -- and suggest that it really ought to be up to the designer.

I stumbled across this article on the always useful "A List Apart" and bookmarked it because I'm attempting to create a global horizontal drop down menu. I want to top off all the blogs at blogs.courant.com with a horizontal CSS menu so each have useful, obvious links back to content on www.courant.com. I'll let you know if I succeed.

Question on video at around 23:30: While different browsers don't all support the same features, will they at least support basics like flow and positioning in like fashion? I recently had a heck of a time with a positioning difference between Firefox and IE, and I still wonder if it was my code, or the way IE dealt with it.

This is a web hosting company I've used for the past six years or so. It used to be called Catalog.com. I give it a decent rating. The administrative control panel interface is easy. Hosting packages provide for MS SQL Server, wordpress installations, metrics, spam sharks, email, ecommerce, php and fairly speedy support help. One annoyance: Webhero is constantly changing its price structure every 6 months or so. Sometimes hosting is free, then it costs a little, then it is free again. Economic survival online is an art these days, (I work for a newspaper) so I can't blame them too much. I currently own three domain names, and all of them are registered with this company.

I did this assignment to become more familiar with writing in html. Also, to work on and its atributes, which I was having a difficult time with. This is a page from Quinnipiac's website, I took the information from it, and found a picture on Flickr. I also added a green background, which I found in the text.

This is my attempt to help others who are trying to create a task that spits back random images instead of just a random number (the Dice module). I used a screen shot from a w3schools example, and I also used 2 screen shots of my own work to assist others. This saved time in writing the code...

A form that includes fields for name and email, and a dropdown select menu. Name (at least 1 character) and a properly formatted email with @ and . are required. The form doesn't actually send any information (since that wasn't required), but after you fill it out, it brings you to a thank you page.
