Syntax and semantics of XProc: An XML Pipeline Language, a language for describing operations to be performed on XML documents. An XML Pipeline specifies a sequence of operations to be performed on zero or more XML documents. Pipelines generally accept zero or more XML documents as input and produce zero or more XML documents as output. Pipelines are made up of simple steps which perform atomic operations on XML documents and constructs similar to conditionals, iteration, and exception handlers which control which steps are executed.

The Efficient XML Interchange (EXI) standard dramatically improves the performance, network efficiency, and power consumption of applications that use XML. EXI is a very compact representation of XML information, making it ideal for use in smart phones, devices with memory or bandwidth constraints, in performance sensitive applications such as sensor networks, in consumer electronics such as cameras, in automobiles, in real-time trading systems, and in many other scenarios.

Cwm (pronounced coom) is a general-purpose data processor for the semantic web, somewhat like sed, awk, etc. for text files or XSLT for XML. It is a forward chaining reasoner which can be used for querying, checking, transforming and filtering information. Its core language is RDF, extended to include rules, and it uses RDF/XML or RDF/N3 (see Notation3 Primer) serializations as required.

FOAF-a-matic is a simple Javascript application that allows you to create a FOAF ("Friend-of-A-Friend") description of yourself. The Web Services Description Language (WSDL, pronounced 'wiz-dəl') is an XML-based language that provides a model for describing Web services. The meaning of the acronym has changed from version 1.1 where the D stood for Definition.

The Semantic Web is a vision for extending the Web so that machines can more intelligently integrate and process the wealth of information that is available. Unlike HTML and ordinary XML, Semantic Web languages allow semantics (i.e., meaning) to be explicitly associated with the content. The semantics are formally specified in ontologies, which can be shared via the Internet and extended for local needs. The current standard for the Semantic Web is OWL, a W3C Recommendation. The Semantic Web and Agent Technologies (SWAT) lab is investigating many of the issues needed to realize the Semantic Web vision.

W3C standards define an Open Web Platform for application development that has the unprecedented potential to enable developers to build rich interactive experiences, powered by vast data stores, that are available on any device. Although the boundaries of the platform continue to evolve, industry leaders speak nearly in unison about how HTML5 will be the cornerstone for this platform. But the full strength of the platform relies on many more technologies that W3C and its partners are creating, including CSS, SVG, WOFF, the Semantic Web stack, XML, and a variety of APIs.

The OWL Web Ontology Language is designed for use by applications that need to process the content of information instead of just presenting information to humans. OWL facilitates greater machine interpretability of Web content than that supported by XML, RDF, and RDF Schema (RDF-S) by providing additional expressive power along with a formal semantics. LODSPeaKr is a small and simple system that allows you to publish your RDF data in a fast way and without much effort. LODSPeaKr allows you to publish your data in several machine-processable syntaxes (RDF/XML, Turtle, N-Triples) as well as in HTML.

Protégé is a free, open source ontology editor and knowledge-base framework. The Protégé platform supports two main ways of modeling ontologies via the Protégé-Frames and Protégé-OWL editors. Protégé ontologies can be exported into a variety of formats including RDF(S), OWL, and XML Schema.

The Web Ontology Language (OWL) is a family of knowledge representation languages for authoring ontologies. The languages are characterised by formal semantics and RDF/XML-based serializations for the Semantic Web. OWL is endorsed by the World Wide Web Consortium[1] and has attracted academic, medical and commercial interest.

A simple but powerful service that delivers RDF-based structured descriptions of Web addressable resources (documents or real world objects) in a variety of formats through Generic HTTP URIs. The underlying technology is Virtuoso's Sponger, which takes an existing Web-accessible resource (webpage, media) and generates an RDF graph of its metadata using existing well-known ontologies as well as site-specific knowledge. URIBurner then re-presents this data as either a new HTML webpage, or directly as RDF in a variety of serializations (RDF/XML, text/n3, turtle, JSON).

vocab.org is intended to be an open URI space for vocabularies such as RDF Schemas or XML Namespace documents

The Virtuoso SPARQL query service implements the SPARQL Protocol for RDF (W3C Working Draft 25 January 2006) providing SPARQL query-processing for RDF data available on the open internet. The query service implementation extends the standard protocol by providing multiple output-formats alongside the standard XML results serialization. At present this uses additional query parameters, although content-negotiation will be supported soon.

RDFLib is a Python library for working with RDF, a simple yet powerful language for representing information. The library contains parsers and serializers for RDF/XML, N3, NTriples, Turtle, TriX and RDFa. The library presents a Graph interface which can be backed by any one of a number of store implementations, including, memory, MySQL, Redland, SQLite, Sleepycat, ZODB and SQLObject.
