Windows Phone 7 Series hands-on and impressions (updated with video) -- Engadget - 3 views

  •
    Forget everything you know about Windows Mobile. Seriously, throw the whole OS concept in a garbage bin or incinerator or something. Microsoft has done what would have been unthinkable for the company just a few years ago: started from scratch. At least, that's how things look (and feel) with Windows Phone 7 Series. This really is a completely new OS -- and not just Microsoft's new OS, it's a new smartphone OS, like webOS new, like iPhone OS new. You haven't used an interface like this before (well, okay, if you've used a Zune HD then you've kind of used an interface like this). Still, 7 Series goes wider and deeper than the Zune by a longshot, and it's got some pretty intense ideas about how you're supposed to be interacting with a mobile device. We had a chance to go hands-on with the dev phone before today's announcement, and hear from some of the people behind the devices, and here's our takeaway. (And don't worry, we've got loads of pictures and video coming, so keep checking this post for the freshest updates).

Cloud link collection « citizen428.blog() - 20 views

  •
    In late 2009 and early 2010 I worked on a very interesting cloud computing project. In the process I accrued a fairly comprehensive link list on the topic, which I already briefly mentioned here. The list was also published on the blog of my back then employer, but since the company doesn't exist anymore and their site is offline, I figured I might as well put it up here. The gist where I originally collected this is still on GitHub, feel free to fork, add etc.

Super Pupper Party -Time to unleash your pet dogs! - Gossip Ki Galliyan - 0 views

  •
    Ugghhh!! Summers are not just here but dreadfully taking a toll on all of us. We humans can at least choose to decide on our recreations to drive away our summer blues. But, what about your darling pet dogs? They too might be longing for some entertaining activities but can't express. I am sure you all must be deeply in love with your fur pals and already be doing anything and everything to keep them happy and healthy. But, just imagine those glaring eyes in your locality when you take your dog for a stroll. I am sure you must have come across such people because of whom you don't feel comfortable taking your dogs to public places. Also, if you do take your dog out, the poor thing must wear a leash. Can you imagine putting your pet in the community pool? Your pet might be clean and disciplined. But other people are not so considerate.

      KIDO'Z finally gets the coverage it deserves.
  • Do you ever get a little worried about where your children are surfing on the internet? I am constantly amazed at sites my kindergartener can get to when I turn my back for a moment. Luckily, my children haven't gotten into inappropriate sites but I don't want to take any chances. We ran a story this morning about a new browser that can restrict where children go and make you feel a little more at ease.

      I do feel that there is still some value in memorization activities since it is an important tool in brain development. However, it is one tool that is overused in education and should be toned down.
