Bag of Tricks

The students see many objects and are given a list of names which they should match with their pictures. The names of the objects have more than one meaning. Students are then given sentences where they are going to use the words in other meanings. They can use either logic or dictionary to find different meanings for these names which will fit in the sentences. This activity will work effectively both in the classroom and outside the classroom. It can also be assigned for individual and group work. My students were really interested in the activity. They asked each other, worked collaboratively, also used dictionary and sometimes asked for my help. The output was productive as in the end students remembered all the words.

The activity consists of flashcards. Below the pictures there are some words. The teacher can cut the pictures and the words and ask the students to find the corresponding pictures and words. Teachers can assign it as a group or an individual work. This activity is more suitable for class work. I gave this activity to my daughter and she was interested in it. She asked me to give her more activities like that. So, I decided to give such activities to my beginner group students.

This activity teaches the name of some vegetables. Below the pictures are given the names of the vegetables and the students have to put the names in their corresponding places. All the pictures are colorless which gives the students the opportunity to color them. So, the teacher can either revise the colors or to introduce them to the students. I gave this activity to my own students and they did it with pleasure. They already knew the colors, so that was only revision for them.

This is a game wich requires to find meanings of prefixes and suffixes it is four -level game. It is for high intemediate level students.

Here is a good online writing site. I think it si for high beginner or low intermediate level. It gives opportunities for choosing the title, the format (letter, news paper article, etc), and panting wich you will draw.

It is a wonderful site with at least 6 differnt exercises. The exercises are connected with listening for specific purposes, listening for vocabulary, gap filling, grammer (have has + V3), etc. Listening also containes of songs though wich the learners may inprove their listening skills.

The Game practices vocabulay concerning with Home, Furniture,Actions, Rooms - Bedroom, Bathroom, Living room. It is recuired for classroom use. It is both group and individual game as is depends on the learners. They will choose numer of the players.

This is an interactive game practicing grammar (active vs. passive voice). It's for intermediate level of students. I think the learners will be interested in as each correct answer in the gap filling exercise will give them an opportunity to play basetball.

This is a great source to teach your students words related to kitchen. If you tutor at your home or at your student's home, it is better take him/her to the kitchen and show him/her everything.Or you can bring some kitchen utilities into the class and show them. I myself tried it with my private student and it was a success.This way they will internalize the material better.
