Learning English - Express English - Three wishes - 2 views

  •
A very good and engaging tool to use in the classroom and have a follow up discussion. Everybody loves spekaing about their wishes, this way they will watch a video, have some vocabulary on the topic and then express their wishes. I think this way the students will be very engaged in the discussion and improve both their listening and speaking skills. This will best work with adults or young adults, intermediate level. I haven't used it yet in my classes, but I will for sure:)

Red Hat, fairy tale - 3 views

  •
This is a very popular fairy tale translated in many languages of the world. So the children will be familiar with the plot and even if they don't know some words they can guess the meaning. Here they have listening with script, which will help them to develop their listening and reading skills. I played this fairy tale for my little son . He watched it with pleasure and said that the ending is different from other red hat fairy tales.

One of the best ways to teach vocabulary using visuals and audio. This has worked very well with kids. They responded very positively and wanted to try again and again till they memorized the words.

This is the exact type of activity for speaking I found for my C4A groups. The topic is animals and it gets the students to read a dialogue and then speak. In my case this activity was a success! For beginners this is a very good and effective task.

Will Might Won't - 4 views

  •
This activity can be played either with teenagers or even kids. It is engaging and brings active interaction into the classroom. All the students are involved in the activity at the same time. It is also exciting for the teacher as he has to create questions during the activity aside from those prepared. Finally it is competition among the student which works perfect most of the times. Enjoy.

Articles A and An - 0 views

This game can be played on line or again with the use of handouts. In case if you don't want to use it online, then the best option is to prepare cards with the word and the articles below, as in the online version. And have the students answer every time you show one card. You can choose one students to answer or make it a competition on "first answered gets a star" This can be engaging and motivating.

Hands-on Present Perfect Activities - 0 views

This activity is a great one for pair work. Present Perfect is the best to be practiced on activity work sheets like this. Enjoy. I do practice them in my class. Students work individually at first, then they turn to their partner and work with him.

This webpage gives some interesting activities for practicing Present Perfect. Some of them I have used some are new. Give it a try. These activities can be done by students in pairs. Students may ask follow up questions such as when, who, with, which will lead them from Present Perfect to Past Simple.

What were you doing when......? - 0 views

All the three activities are good for practising Past Continuous but most of all I liked "Alibi" . I do think, it's excellent for all level students but I would prefer to practise it with intermediate ones. Students will be able to improve their speaking skills via creating stories. Besides, the process can be very intriguing.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire - ESL Classroom Activity - Fun English Games - 0 views

  •
Ask the first student a question (usually very easy) and if they get it right then move on to the second student in the group and ask if they would like to continue or 'bank' the $500, the questions I use slowly get harder but in general they are relatively easy (it's more fun that way, plus they're 50/50 so they always have a chance).
