There is so much information available now to people that plagiarism is easier and more tempting.

"Plagiarism is cheating, it is dishonest, and it is unethical." The first way to avoid students from plagiarizing is to set clear expectations in a written format that provides concrete examples. There are programs such as Glatt Plagarism Services that can be used to detect plagerism. By giving students a good background on the importance of citing ideas, topics, and quotes and providing them with how to cite correctly, they will be less tempted to plagiarize. As educators we can take many steps to provide support for our students so that they do not plagiarize.

This brief article discusses how 1/3 of students are now using social networking to cheat. Although this is at the college level, educators need to be aware of this trend but also to instruct students on how to use social networking appropriately. Collaboration is an excellent means of learning but it needs to be done in an appropriate way.

This article focusses primarily on exam taking methods when students take online course. The writer gives a variety of suggestions on how to promote academic honesty when her students take tests. It did give some good suggestions on how to do this but essentially during test taking situations we have to trust our students.
