As you may know, both sites are syndicating in feeds from students' blogs using the amazing FeedWordPress plugin. We use this plugin all over UMW Blogs to allow faculty to manage course "mother" blogs into which students' blogs are fed."
Insightful post on the trends in the LMS market. It doesn't really address the potential for the demise of the LMS alongside the rise of the independent and open services that education is exploring, e.g. YouTube, WordPress, etc.

Ownership of smartphones is relatively common in this corner of the world, and a large proportion of our new recruits are Gen Y. So conventional wisdom dictated that a mobile version of the course would be a smash hit. It tanked."
Moocs as capitalist ventures which will parasitically destroy academia and also produce poor returns for learners. This is an economic landgrab of huge proportions.
