How Animation Can Save You from Programming - 2 views

  • mix of drawing some parts of the animation (like the legs or arms) and pupetting some other parts (like the face).
    • Filip Bártek

I'd expect it to be easier the other way round.
  • If you look at the following bouncing ball, you’ll notice that the ball squeezes when it hits the ground, and stretches when it moves up. In the GIF on the right, the squeeze and stretch of the ball is much more exaggerated. Which animation is more pleasing to you?
    • Filip Bártek

You can achieve the same effect using plain old procedural "math-driven" animation.
  • if you are doing the same scene as frame by frame animation, it gets a bit easier.
    • Filip Bártek

And what if the artist decides to change the path later?
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • This kind of precision is very difficult to achieve simply through scripting.
    • Filip Bártek

      I'd agree it is.

Good Sprite Website - 5 views

This website is what I use for ANY sprite from a video game. I've been using it for a number years, it is very user-friendly and easy to use. Click the search bar and type in a video game. Any sprites at all relevant should show up. It is VERY useful for finding what you need. There are over 1000 spirte sheets, which is a LOT of sprites.

Scripts - YoYoGames Wiki - 2 views

  •
From YoYoGames Wiki Game Maker Scripts are used in Game Maker to execute code. A Game Maker script is basically a function, capable of taking arguments in, and returning a certain return value. The advantage of scripts over regular pieces of code is that they could be performed more than once, saving file size, memory, and also making the code simpler to read, understand, and edit.

What is a sprite? If you look up "sprite" in a dictionary or on the internet, you'll get references to fairies, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, and maybe even a bit of pixie dust. That may be what you were thinking when you clicked on the link that brought you here, but this article is about making 2D graphics a little bit more flexible.

Super Mario 63 Level Editor - 1 views

  •
Hi Guys! I use this game to test out its level editor. At the bottom, it says, "Download EXE". If you'd like, download the game. You can also use the picture on top. Click it to start. WIthin the game, there is a level editor. I use it to test out odd ideas, and I see it like Sploder. Instruction to go to the Level Editor: 1. Make a new save with the Play button. 2. Finish the tutorial and then get to the castle. 3. Walk into the castle and go to the star-door at the top right. 4. Talk to the toad. 5. Jump into the blank portal frame. You will also get a code that marks your game if you select the right tool. This allows games to be shared. :D Enjoy the level Editor! Reminds me of Sploder. What do you think?
