anonymous on 23 Dec 13Interesting article. I have over thirty-five years' continuous experience as a teacher and librarian and am unemployable - I am simply "too expensive" to hire. Why spend $80,000+ on me when you can hire a graduate for tens of thousands less? I have knowledge, experience and skills that would be needed and valued by any school, but the Almighty Dollar rules nowadays. So this "good teacher" has left teaching, even though I still think I have much to offer. I am now studying in a field well away from education and planning a career in my new field. It's a shame that I have left education in this negative fashion, but I'm moving on, hopefully to bigger and better things.
