This article explores how designing practices incorporating new technology in building materials and codes can improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of older buildings. Improving the energy efficiency to reduce costs and reduce harm to the environment.
This paper addresses the sustainability of sea water cooled air conditioning systems. Water cooled air conditioning systems are more efficient and ecologically friendly than air cooled systems. But with the scarcity of fresh water and initial cost compared with other systems if sea water is a viable alternative.
This paper addresses anaerobic digesters (ADs) installations on livestock farms to use animal manure as a biomass resource for both economic value and environmental benefit. Capturing biogas created naturally from animal waste before it escapes to do harm to the environment and using the gas as a fuel to produce electric power. Either to be used to power the farm itself or integrated into the local electric grid.
This paper explores the benefits that sustainable resources benefit remote islands. The lack of a grid connection to the mainland, and high cost of imported fossil fuels along with ideal conditions make sustainable energy technology an excellent choice. The technology allows the systems to be used as a standalone option for remote villages and locations.
