This site briefly describes different organic farming methods from the current 10,000 organic farms in the United States that produce 2% of our food supply. It also covers genetically modified foods. Valuable site for an introductory explanation of organic farming.

Many people ask this question and I think this article does a good job of giving some of the basics to the answer. It should also include the fact that organic dairy farmers are not subsidized by our government, Sustainability of our land, animals and humans together.

Most people are not aware that regular coffee consumption can be a significant source of pesticides. According to the CS Monitor, conventional farmers apply up to 250 pounds of chemical fertilizers per acre! So when you sip on your non-organic morning brew, you are also sipping on pesticide residues.

The one thing all 6 reasons have in common is the lack of commitment on the part of the people, individually or as organizations, to long term solutions. The human element is what's holding us back.

This is a great group of designers and builders who have been helping build housing for those affected my catastropic events, such as the Haiti earthquake and Hurricane Katrina.

This is another direct access site for finding farms and markets in your area. I like that they also designate which farms you can buy products from online.
