Digital Citizenship Parent Resources | Digital Citizenship Parent Resources | OER Commons - 2 views

One area for which I'm always searching for more resources and information is resources that can be shared with parents and families to support the digital citizenship learning students are doing in the library. Just because most parents many parents are comfortable with technology, that doesn't 'mean they know how to talk to their children about internet safety and ethics. This includes a good list of resources that are available.

This provides a fantastic list of resources for parents (or teachers) to utilize to support the teaching of digital citizenship skills! I'm always looking for tools to share with our families to help them better understand their role in creating good digital citizens at home.

Simple, positive classroom management, and parent engagement. Loved by over 35 million teachers, parents, and students. As a "special" teacher and seeing all the students in the building this was a great way for me to monitor kids behavior and they love it! I can't award individual students when I have 450 students so we set goals as a class and when they reach it they are rewarded.

Book Clubs: Reading for Fun | OER Commons - 0 views

We have parents who want to run book clubs during lunch hours. Many times they are not organized and there is not much reading that takes place. This would provide a great overview for the book clubs, provide it with structure, and also give some tasks to be completed during the reading.

Khan Academy: 7th Grade Math - 0 views

The Khan Academy has wonderful resources on many topics. The online tutorials are great visual examples of solving various math problems that teachers can utilize in the regular classroom, flipped classroom, tutoring students or online courses. I would also coordinate with the teacher and link these resources to my library websites for students and parents to access. Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more. Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.

Creative Writing - 1 views

Our school has been pushing writing in ALL areas, even gym! I found this to be a fun way to get kids to do some writing, and in fact our 2nd grade classroom even wrote a book and published it...had a party and everything. The book is in our library to be checked out, and many parents purchased a copy!

Growing up Digital- Provided by Baltimore County Public Schools | OER Commons - 4 views

This website is a comprehensive set of resources for students K-12, parents and teachers. The topics include online security, digital relationships and cyberbullying, digital footprint, digital citizenship, student data, copyright and maintaining a healthy balance of digital exposure. I found a scope and sequence on the digital citizenship page that could be helpful in designing a digital citizenship teaching structure for your school.
