The kids in my placement just love this website. They are so into poetry and writing/reading it. This website has several aspects where you can read poetry, play word games, tutorials on different types of poetry writing.
This website allows you to create stories with your photos and words. I think this website would be a great tool for students to use when documenting their work on a project (possible science fair project). Additionally, Tabblo would be a great tool for teachers to use to document all of their students' work. It could be used to show all projects in a classroom to parents, or it could used to show a child's progression throughout the year.
Prezi is an alternative presentation tool. This presentation tool allows the creator to make a presentation that is not linear. Unlike PowerPoint where you go from one slide to the next, these presentations are set up to travel in any direction you want. From there you can even zoom in to highlight important parts, or include definitions bellow new words in a passage that might be in the presentation. Teachers will find this tool useful for incorporating into lesson, but because it is really user friendly, students can also use this site.
Here is a variety of Google Gadgets that offer a great amount of potential in motivating students to interact with one another using text. For example, using the ConceptDraw MindWave gadget, students can collaborate creating visual representations of new and expanding understandings. The can share video comments with one another using the WaveTube gadget. There is even a Magnetic Fridge Poetry gadget, in which students can create poetry by moving the individual words around themselves.
A subscription based educational video tool covering all elementary content areas. In the words of my eight year old son . . . Gaaaaaaames!!!!! With a high level of engagement and deep content he doesn't realize he is actually learning.
Taxedo turns turns Wordle on its' head, literally. Watch famous speeches, news articles, slogans and themes, literacy biographies come alive. Visually stunning words individually sized by shaped of the topic and highlight the frequencies of occurrence within the body of text.

Wordle is an interactive tool for generating "word clouds" from text - it allows you to analyze the text in surprising ways. Adjusting the fonts in color shape size and style informs surprising vocabulary results.
Square of Life: Studies in Local and Global Environments, hosts collaborative projects in which students investigate their local environments and share that information with other students from around the country.
Pdf image and word stories highlight student accomplishment. In the gallery there's even one entry from a first grade class in Japan.
