My own kids like this site. It is a nice way for them to use technology in an educationally sound way. And yes, I have played some of these games as well. Fun!

The Wisconsin Veterans Museum has a travel trunk program where teachers can check out trunks. The trunks have artifacts, activities and resourses for the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
Bogs are a great way for students to collaborate on a subject. They can work together to create a blog or use the teacher created blog to ask questions and comment on specific topics.

Virtual Tourist also has additional interactive maps on their main website. Need to register with the site to get full access to all features.
This site interesting science ans social studies videos, blogs, articles, photos, etc. for middle/high schoolers. I like it because it presents information and articles in a way that is attention-grabbing for older students.
