Great resource for English/LA lesson plans by the NCTE

I like this website because although it doesn't specifically offer Family and Consumer Ed. curriculum lesson plans; I am excited to try "Architects in Action" This lesson will not only help build my Careers Unit but also be a catlyst for adding cross-curricular activities in Family and Consumer Ed.

We used United Streaming at a previous school district I worked at. There were some great video resources. It was pretty expensive, but well used. I do however think that there are so many free sites out there that we can find some great information and videos to enhance our curriculums as well.

This site, like many PBS websites, has tons of ideas and activities to incorporate into science or tech ed lessons. There are excellent nonliguistic elements including interactive "labs" and other online activities. It also does a nice job of connecting the lesson ideas to real life. The site includes extensive lesson plan ideas and extra resources, although the videos are not free.

A great website for teachers, students, and parents. Teachers can get lesson plan ideas, additional resources to complement Scholastic News subscriptions, order items and books for the classroom, and print mini-books and other reproducibles. Students can have discussions with others who are reading the same or similar books and learn about new books and authors. Parents can find activities for their child and even learn about how their child's reading develops.

This is a pretty cool place. You really can search for any number of different activities.

Teachers' Domain is a free digital media service for educational use from public broadcasting and its partners. You'll find thousands of media resources, support materials, and tools for classroom lessons, individualized learning programs, and teacher professional learning communities. You just can't beat CPB stuff!

What a great resource. I've always seen NOVA programs that would be interesting to share with my students, but I did not know there was a sight where I could search by topic. I also like that they level the clips by appropriateness for grade level. I already plan to use the clip on planets' sizes in relation to each other. Thank you for sharing this. I see myself using it a great deal.

My students enjoy the surveys/polls on this site.

Times for Kids is great for social studies classes and is super easy to adapt articles for different reading and grade levels. The site also has a teacher's section with related items for download that would be easily integrated into a lesson plan for a comprehension check or group activity. The site layout and topics make current events a little more grasp-able for the younger students.

I had never checked out this site before. After looking around on it a bit, I am very excited to take advantage of it. I noticed that they have archived a bunch of webinars. There were many that interested me, and I'll be checking them out more later. I also loved that you can ask questions and respond to other teachers. What a great way to get new and fresh ideas!
