This is a great site to introduce to new teachers who have few resources for student practice pages. I've enjoyed using this site as I build my fourth-grade resource library.

Create a character to speak. Type text for character to say or record your voice. My son uses it for Spanish class. I wonder if I could use it for language arts

Treasures has some really good graphic organizers to help students reinforce strategies and skills. The organizers can be found on the Treasures link under the start menu on any computer from school. The Treasures website also has extra information to help teachers organize their lessons.

I clicked on the oral language link and found resources for "advance organizers". Now I won't have to always create my own. Thank you for sharing.

The Treasures website has some fun games that reinforce skills/concepts that are taught. We find the book we are working in, and then work on the skills specific to that week. (language arts, phonics, etc)

Students can make online, multimedia posters. The website description: * A creative, dynamic, and innovative digital outlet that captures learner's excitement for online creations, keeps learners engaged in course content, and makes teaching and learning more fun. * A private and safe platform, monitored directly by teachers. Teachers control all the activities of their learners. * A valuable teaching tool that integrates diverse core subjects including math, science, history, art, photography, music and more for individual learner portfolios, unique alternative assessments, and differentiated instructional activities. For Learners: * A fun, imaginative, and powerful learning experience which fosters independent creative self expression, positive learner-teacher relationships, and teamwork on collaborative class projects. * A vibrant, multi-sensory learning experience which integrates learner's knowledge and skills into traditionally text-oriented subjects and motivates learner's desire to explore topics in which they may previously have been less interested.

Students really do enjoy using Glogster. I do think that it is gret that the students have so many different ways in which to show their knowledge and mastery of the material. It also does give them the opportunity to use some cretivity when designing them.

My own kids like this site. It is a nice way for them to use technology in an educationally sound way. And yes, I have played some of these games as well. Fun!

Word Learner - 1 views

This website allows teachers to easily create word puzzles such as matching activities, flash cards, crossword puzzles, and word searches. Online versions of these same puzzles can also be used. It also has an online dictionary feature that provides the definition of a word as well as uses it in a sentence and provides different translations. Students can also choose from an extensive list, which dictionary they'd like to use. Some features do require the user to create an account, and there is also a premium account that users can pay a fee for. I'm sure this would open up even more resources, though I did not try this portion.

A great website for teachers, students, and parents. Teachers can get lesson plan ideas, additional resources to complement Scholastic News subscriptions, order items and books for the classroom, and print mini-books and other reproducibles. Students can have discussions with others who are reading the same or similar books and learn about new books and authors. Parents can find activities for their child and even learn about how their child's reading develops.
