"PrimaryAccess was designed for use in K-12 classrooms to aid in teaching content knowledge, critical thinking skills and even writing or storytelling skills. Teachers can set up and manage class activities and materials with ease using TeacherTools. Students then access the activities using MovieMaker and StoryBoard." This a great site to help students understand primary sources and their importance. This primary source website is an awesome tool for students to apply their knowledge on different topics and also expand that knowledge through the use of primary sources.

Middle School students would love this site. Students will be able to apply the knowledge they have on an assigned topic and create a game for classmates to play to review that information.

"TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. " This is a great site to research ideas from others' perspectives and apply that information to your projects. I think middle school and high school teachers can use this with their students and search a topic and have one of the speakers help to apply or review the knowledge the teacher is covering. I plan on using the technology perspectives with my eighth graders of a great example of how to communicate with your audience.

Kids' Vid is a great site for students and teachers to find tips about creating videos. It takes students through the steps of planning (scripting), making the video, editing the video and then the final product. The great thing about the site is that it gives reasons why each step is important, which helps to back me up in the classroom.

Glogster is a way for students to make interactive posters. Creating a Glog is a great nonlinguistic representation of information for students. Music, video, photos and text can all be added to the Glogs. Finding a song, video or photo to represent the information in the students' Glog, is a great way to help the students better understand the topic and teach their peers about the topic as well. Students can view others' Glogs in their classes and make comments on them. Teachers can also set up the glogs so that students can collaborate on them as well.

NoteStar works a lot like Google docs in that studetns are able to collect and organize their notes, but has an added feature of preparing the students bibliography page for them.

The Big Six is an information seeking strategy developed by Michael B. Eisenberg and Robert E. Berkowitz that assists students in information problem solving. Teachers and librarians would greatly benefit from this organization tool to get students organized BEFORE they begin their research. Once students have their topics for research, they are able to use the Big Six strategy to guide them through their research. This pdf file will allow students to save it and once saved, they are able to click on comment and type their information into the file. There is another version of the Big Six for elementary called: Plan, Do, Review.

Google Sites allows you to create and share webpages. Google Sites is set up to help you create a web page (easily it states), collect your information all in one place, and control who can view it and edit it, which is a lot like Google Docs. There is also a learn more link where you can view a quick overview video to help get you started: http://www.google.com/sites/help/intl/en/overview.html This would be a great resource tool for collaborating on a group project.

Bogs are a great way for students to collaborate on a subject. They can work together to create a blog or use the teacher created blog to ask questions and comment on specific topics.

This is a free resource for students and staff that allows them to input the bibliographic information from the resources they have used and it will create the citation for them. Users are able to choose MLA or APA styles, which will help both our students here and adults who may be taking graduate level courses.

Google Maps is a valuable resource for many reasons. It will allow users to find specific addresses and view the satalite images. Users can click on the yellow person on the screen and drag it down to get a street view of the specific address if the image is available. Google Maps could be used across the curriculum to view many different monuments and other areas around the world.

Moodle is a wonderful tool for teachers to give students the experience of working in an on-line classroom environment, since they will most likely be taking some classes in that format in the future. Moodle is a great way to get links out to students, have them work through some topics and then have them take a quiz within Moodle. Students really enjoy the imediate results of taking a quiz in Moodle. It takes a bit on the teacher's end to get things set up, but is well worth it when it comes to assessment.

This a great resource for students to collaborate with their notes for a project. I have my eighth graders use it for research for their group projects and they also have to share the documents with me, which allows me to see their progress and make comments without having to collect any paper from them. Another great thing about Google Apps is the ability to access it anywhere the students have internet. For them, it's like having a built-in flash drive via the internet.
