Since its establishment in 1983, The Advocates for Human Rights has been dedicated to promoting and defending human rights locally and globally through advocacy, research and education. The Advocates believes that education is one of the best ways to ensure long-term improvements in respect for human rights everywhere.

The Global Poverty Project utilises the power of education, communications, advocacy, campaigning and the media to advance the movement to end extreme poverty. We know extreme poverty is a complex issue, and that it can't be eradicated overnight, or by one person. That's why we're building a global movement for change: focused on making a difference now, and changing the systems and policies that keep people in poverty. We do this in two ways: * Campaigning for government, business and consumer action that will create important systemic change for the world's extreme poor, and * Building a movement that engages and educates people, and supports them to take simple but effective individual actions for change.

Child hunger is a big problem in America. And we have a big goal to help tackle it. We are working together to raise 1 million meals for kids in communities across the United States - in just 6 weeks. Every action you take helps us reach our goal. Plant a community garden, organize a food drive, or host an event that will get more and more people involved in the fight against child hunger.

Color Me Healthy is a program developed to reach children ages four and five with fun, interactive learning opportunities on physical activity and healthy eating. It is designed to stimulate all of the senses of young children: touch, smell, sight, sound, and, of course, taste. Through the use of color, music, and exploration of the senses, Color Me Healthy teaches children that healthy food and physical activity are fun.

Malnutrition is devastating. In West and Central Africa, one million child deaths each year are associated to malnutrition. Tackling child malnutrition requires to protect, promote and support optimal infant and young child feeding practices.

There are 870 million undernourished people in the world today. That means one in eight people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition are in fact the number one risk to the health worldwide - greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

Improving child nutrition is the focal point of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The legislation authorizes funding and sets policy for USDA's core child nutrition programs: the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), the Summer Food Service Program, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act allows USDA, for the first time in over 30 years, opportunity to make real reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs by improving the critical nutrition and hunger safety net for millions of children.
