Web 2.0 (1): This website is so neat! I have never seen anything like it. You can create your own Avatar (Voki) by choosing its appearance, adding your own voice, etc. Students can then add their Voki to a PowerPoint, share it with their classmates, etc. as part of a project or assignment. Students can share their knowledge about a topic by presenting it in a form of themselves without having to get up in front of the class and present. Teachers can use it, too, to share information. Very appealing to students!

This site presents an in-depth timelines of President Abraham Lincoln. I chose this site because it would be useful for a history class wrapped around 19th century. History teachers can use this as a helpful tool when discussing the Civil War (i.e., it includes links to Civil War information).

Middle School Analogy Match - 0 views

After being instructed, students loved to be tested--not necessarily a summative assessment. I picked this site because it presents some interesting educational games. This would be helpful for teachers because it provides short games/quizzes, which serve as fun evaluators for understanding concepts.

This is a site that offers animated videos to help explain science topics for many different levels. Its fun and interactive for any student. Teachers can use this as a tool for students to go on and watch the videos to learn and have fun. I remember using this in high school and thinking even grade school students would be able to understand the information. It can be used for other subjects also, like health and social studies.
  •
BrainPop is extremely useful for all teachers, and I think should be completely utilized. All subjects are present, and students can learn and explore a variety of topics. However, teachers can utilize lesson plans, standards, and create homework assignments on the website. Truly a great site to add to a PLN.

The Icing on the Cake: Online Tools for Classroom Use - 0 views

  •  The Icing on the Cake Online Tools for Classroom Use by Kathy Schrock (kathy@kathyschrock.net) This list of online tools was created as a support site to go along with a presentation well before Web 2.0 tools were used to support teaching and learning. Since that time, links to a few Web 2.0 portals have been added and the links have been checked for validity, but the list is almost the same as it was in 2001, when it was first created.

Cagle Post- Social Studies - 0 views

This website is great. It was recently showed to me by a current high school teacher. Cagle is basically a collection of political and other cartoons that are arranged based on topic. This is useful in the social studies area because it allows students to study events, past and present, by the use of a humorous and/or ironic visual. It also promotes critical thinking skills because students have to think about what each thing means in the cartoon in order to decipher the whole meaning. This would be especially useful in a class that deals with current events.

this is a unique website that allows students to use video, community, phone and presentation tools. Now that students are more enhanced in technology we need to do something about keeping them engaged in the classroom and implementing technology is a perfect way to do it.
