Under those circumstances, you would appreciate those that had the bravery to help you find those faults, and you wouldn't squander their courage with inaction.
While I can see the perspective that it may be more difficult, emergencies are when we need each other most. It is when we tend to form our strongest bonds, with those that we see as people. More difficult, but also most rewarding.
The answer may be to practice, practice, practice in the times when things are a bit calmer. That way you are conditioned to see others as people when you are walking through the fire with them.
