Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Europe - Volume and Standards - 0 views

  • One factor that could limit the spread of EVSE, according to the report, is the great variety between countries in terms of regulations, government support for EVs and charging infrastructure, and technologies.  The absence of a single, region-wide alternating current EV charging connector standard has hampered the deployment of EV charging infrastructure.  The European Union must address these country-specific variations if the EV market is to thrive, the report finds

Energy Efficient HVAC Systems Advancing - 0 views

  • Energy consumption by heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems accounts for roughly 40 percent of total building energy consumption, and in turn, buildings account for 35 percent to 40 percent of total worldwide energy consumption.  Thus, HVAC energy consumption in commercial buildings is a key contributor to total global energy consumption.  Driven by tightening energy efficiency regulations and by demand for higher-efficiency buildings, the technology for efficient HVAC systems is advancing.

EU urged to agree copper scrap criteria - 0 views

  •
The EU is being urged by industry body Eurometrec to agree End-of-Waste criteria for copper scrap, despite some contention over the maximum level of foreign materials. The EU is proposing a 2% maximum foreign material content in order to allow copper scrap to cease being classified as waste, while recyclers have argued for a 5% maximum. Achieving End-of-Waste status will allow material to be classified as a product and exempt from waste permitting regulations.

Increasing Number Of Major Losses Challenge Global Power Industry - 0 views

  • In addition to a rise in major incidents, power organisations also face growing challenges from an aging workforce, deteriorating equipment, a growing demand for electricity – especially from emerging economies, environmental regulation, and the rise of renewable energy.Philippe Du Four, Chairman of Marsh’s Global Power Practice, commented: “Insurers are reconsidering their stance on pricing and conditions for the global power industry following sustained heavy losses arising from machinery breakdown, fire and explosion, natural perils and associated business interruption. Improving risk management techniques to reduce claims frequency and costs should be a business imperative for power organisations.”

ECO-CYCOLOGY mentality is more than a just brand-led phenomenon; realizing its importance, various cities or states in US (San Diego, Seattle and San Francisco to name a few) have enacted their own mandatory recycling laws. Likewise, The European Parliament has voted for tougher regulations on the disposal of electronic trash, requiring each country to collect 4 kilos of e-waste per citizen by 2012, and to process 85% of all its electronic waste by 2016.

US - Golden Dragon circumnavigates US anti-dumping regulations by setting up copper tub... - 0 views

  •
It was reported that US State authorities have signed an agreement with China headquartered Golden Dragon Precise Copper Tube Group Inc. for the construction of a new copper tube plant in Wilcox County, Alabama. Development of the facility will involve an investment of US$100M, however, the production capacity of the operation is not yet known. This follows September news that the company had not broken ground at its proposed US$100M, 45,000t/y copper pipe and tube project in neighbouring Clarke County, Alabama. The delay was attributed to a larger than originally anticipated site requirement, leading to the development of new plans to relocate the facility. Production will supply the US heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning sector.

Grid Scale Battery Storage Market Forecast 2014-2024 - 0 views

  • The grid scale battery storage market is largely an emerging one, especially when compared to other energy storage systems. Most grid scale batteries are either too expensive or not yet fully tested and understood in a real-life environment - or both. However, pressed by high and rising renewable energy capacity brought online, an increasing number of governments around the world are considering adopting new regulation favouring the commissioning of grid scale storage systems, such as capacity payment mechanisms or mandatory targets for the installation of new storage capacity.
