    According to the China Nonferrous Industry Association (CNIA), China's copper fabricating capacity will increase from 12Mt/y today to 16Mt/y in 2015. In 2010, China's fabricating capacity was 12Mt and output was 10Mt. By 2015, CNIA forecasts an additional copper fabricating capacity of 1.5Mt of copper wire, 1.2Mt of copper plate and 450,000t of copper tube.

This production value tallies with the earlier reported semis output figure of 1,580,000t from the National Bureau of Statistics for the same period.

    Data released by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) indicates that in the first three quarters of this year China's production of copper semis reached 7.57Mt and apparent consumption reached 7.79Mt. This denotes a growth rate of 4.4% and 3.0% respectively.
