If you’ve ever wondered where Jim Abrahams and David Zucker came up with those hilarious jokes in Airplane!, the answer isn’t strictly their warped minds. Many of the scenes set up for the gags were directly cribbed from 1957’s Zero Hour! It’s a movie about an ex fighter pilot named Stryker, who… well, see for yourself.
And I’d always thought it was a spoof of the Airport movies. Of course, the writers did have warped minds, and saw this classic movie, replete with so many unfunny-yet- ripe-for-the-funny lines, as a perfect structure for the brilliant comedy it ultimately became.

despite the bad translation, this is actually going to be very handy. Buffalo has introduced an analog to digital cable converter that will connect your VCR to a USB port, and allow you to directly transfer VHS tapes into Digital format with it's own embedded software. Funny, because I was just looking at all the old VHS tapes we've accumulated and was thinking about the nightmare of conversion.

We know eye witnesses aren't always reliable, but police composite sketches almost never really look like the perpetrator. Remember the Unabomber? He looked nothing like the stylish, mustachioed, aviator-wearing hoodlum he was made out to be. All kidding aside, these are some of the worst police sketches we have ever seen. Whether they look like they were drawn by a third-grader or one of the guys in Times Square who does the big-headed caricatures, if anyone should be arrested, it's the artist responsible.

Finally! Someone figured out how to use the web and all its awesomeness for what it was intended for, screwing people over (and also watching people screw). I’m surprised it’s taken someone this long to create a site to help the criminal community. Why a would-be robber spends time outside houses, trying to time when the homeowner leaves and comes back baffles my mind. Why do all that hard work when you have PleaseRobMe.com. BARRIE, Ont. - A man who decided to help clear the street with his own push snowblower ended up with a public intoxication ticket. Police in Barrie, Ont., north of Toronto, say it was for the man's own protection as he was too intoxicated to operate the machine and was almost struck twice by passing vehicles Tuesday evening. Officers out on patrol noticed him. Police arrested the 41-year-old man and held him until he was sober. Sgt. Doug Henderson said he doesn't know if the man had an explanation for his actions. A public intoxication ticket runs $55.

I love dirty martinis, but thank god (little “g” on purpose because I’m not fond of strict rules of behavior and BS dogma regarding a point source deity with a beard who looks like us). I only drink them on weekends – fer now (hee hee!). I used to hate the taste of DMs along with other hoytee- -toytee bourgeoisie (I’m not a communist – I swear!) drinks (e.g. manhattans, cosmos, rusty nails, etc), but a dear friend of mine for over twenty five years introduced them to me a coupla years ago. Did this post have too many parentheses in it? If it did, it’s cuz I’m on my second dirty martini. If U check the date on this post, it’s a Sunday :^).
