C.J. Chapman is the new general counsel of Denver-based hotel operator and developer Stonebridge Cos. Chapman, who has nearly two decades of experience, will provide in-house legal advice for Stonebridge and also oversee the firm's risk management group, a statement said. A Denver native, Chapman also will become a shareholder in Stonebridge, according to the company. Previously, he served as general counsel to Elevation Capital, a venture fund based in Vancouver, Canada. "I am excited to have C.J. join our team. His breadth of experience and knowledge is a welcomed addition to Stonebridge," said Tom Brinkman, president and chief operating officer of Stonebridge. "C.J.'s professionalism, broad experience in the commercial real estate sector and commitment to excellence is a perfect fit for the team and culture here at Stonebridge."

Lee Palaschak is the new executive vice president of operations at Stonebridge Cos. He will oversee the company's operations from a new office in Dallas and report to CEO Rob Smith. Denver-based Stonebridge is led by Founder and Chairman Navin Dimond. "Lee shares our vision of operational excellence and delivering value to ownership and brings strong relationships with our brand partners," said Smith. "We are confident he will build on the infrastructure we have in place and continue to elevate Stonebridge as the market leader for third-party management contracts." Palaschak has 35 years of operational experience. Before joining Stonebridge, he was senior vice president at Remington Hospitality, managing operations for a\ portfolio of full-service and select-service brands, luxury and lifestyle properties. He also held senior roles at Aimbridge Hospitality, Winegardner & Hammons, and Commonwealth Hotels.

ROB SMITH WILL become president and CEO of Stonebridge Cos. in July. He succeeds Navin Dimond, who founded the Denver-based hotel management company in 1991 and will now serve as chairman. In his new role, Smith will lead the development and execution of the organization's long-term strategies and report to the board of directors, Stonebridge said in a statement. "I am proud of the success our team has achieved as we've built the distinct Stonebridge brand over more than 30 years-and am confident that the best is yet to come," said Dimond. "Rob epitomizes our culture of leveraging innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit to enhance value for our owners, investors and other stakeholders. His extensive, successful track record makes him the ideal person to advance our growth strategy. I look forward to working closely with Rob to take Stonebridge to the next level of growth."

Chris Cheney is now senior vice president of commercial services at Stonebridge Cos. He joined the company in 2007, serving as a general manager at properties from Alaska to Colorado before becoming director of revenue management in 2011. In his new role, Cheney will oversee revenue management, sales and marketing, and digital strategy. Stonebridge is led by founder and chairman Navin Dimond. "We are incredibly proud to promote and grow our internal talent at Stonebridge, and Chris' continued growth within the company is a testament to that commitment," said Rob Smith, Stonebridge's president and CEO. Aly-khan S. Merali is now president and managing partner of Stonebridge Cos. in Denver. Founder Navin C. Dimond will remain CEO and will assume chairman duties for the company. Previously, Merali was president and chief financial officer of Turnberry Associates since 2013, according to Stonebridge. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and head of acquisitions for a U.S.-based investment firm with properties in North America, Europe and the Caribbean. Merali also held leadership and ownership positions in real estate companies in the United Kingdom, Canada and East Africa with assets in hospitality, industrial, manufacturing, office and senior living. "I have known Aly-khan for many years and have the utmost respect for him and his ability to lead Stonebridge Companies as we move forward and continue to grow and prosper," said Dimond. "His background and extensive experience in the hospitality industry is impressive and makes him a perfect fit for this role."

STONEBRIDGE COS. LLC, a Denver-based hotel management firm with a diverse portfolio of full-service, select-service, and extended-stay properties, recently acquired Real Hospitality Group LLC, an Ocean City, Maryland-based hotel management company. Stonebridge is chaired and led by CEO Navin Dimond, while RHG was founded and led by Ben Seidel, president and CEO. Seidel will join Stonebridge as a principal and member of the board of directors, the companies said in a joint statement. However, the terms of the deal were not disclosed. "We're thrilled to join forces with RHG as we embark on this next chapter of our evolution," said Dimond. "The blending of these two companies will create a dynamic, leading hotel management group that will drive innovation and create exciting growth opportunities for our team members."

Marco Selva is the new senior vice president of business development and operations at Stonebridge Cos., focusing on expanding its luxury, lifestyle and resort portfolio in the Southeast, Caribbean and Latin America. His appointment supports the company's efforts to strengthen its market presence, Stonebridge said in a statement. Stonebridge is led by Founder and Chairman Navin Dimond. Selva will open a Miami office and target high-end projects across the region, aligning with Stonebridge's growth strategy, the company said. Rob Smith, Stonebridge's president and CEO, said Selva's appointment is a step in expanding the company's luxury, lifestyle, and resort footprint in the region. "With my background in the Caribbean and Aruba, combined with Marco's extensive experience and focus on these key markets, we are well-positioned to drive growth in the Caribbean and Latin America," Smith said. Chad Goodnough is now senior vice president of sales, strategy, and innovation at Stonebridge Cos. In this role, he will drive revenue, market share and RevPAR growth for Stonebridge's portfolio through sales strategies. He joins from HRI Hospitality, where he was senior vice president of sales and marketing, Stonebridge said in a statement. "Chad's expertise in the hospitality industry and ability to drive results in competitive markets make him a strong fit," said Rob Smith, Stonebridge's CEO and president. "We are excited to welcome him and look forward to the strategies he will bring."

STONEBRIDGE COS. RECENTLY acquired the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Las Vegas Airport, marking the Denver-based companies entrée in the Las Vegas market. The company, led by Aly-khan Merali as president and managing partner and founder and CEO Navin Dimond, plans to renovate the 190-room hotel. The DoubleTree, built in 1998, is near both the Harry Reid International Airport and the Las Vegas Strip. The planned renovations will include guest rooms and common areas, with work is anticipated to begin in the second quarter of 2023 and anticipated to end in the fourth quarter of that year. "We are excited to continue our growth with the recent acquisition of the DoubleTree Las Vegas Airport hotel. Our new partnership with TowerBrook Capital Partners and other private investors provides us a tremendous platform for us to achieve our significant growth plans throughout the U.S. and this acquisition is the first of many going forward," said Tom Brinkman, Stonebridge's president and chief operating officer. STONEBRIDGE COS. HAS acquired the Le Méridien New Orleans hotel for $84 million from Park Hotels & Resorts Inc. It is the second acquisition in the city in 12 months for the Denver-based company, started by CEO Navin Dimond. The 410-room, full-service upscale hotel on Poydras Street is near the city's French Quarter, Bourbon Street and Warehouse Arts District. Also nearby are the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Smoothie King Center and the Port of New Orleans Cruise Ship Terminal. Amenities include a rooftop pool, onsite restaurants and more than 13,000 square feet of event space. With the new purchase, Stonebridge's portfolio stands at 63 hotels and more than 10,000 guest rooms, including select-service, extended-stay, mid-scale and full-service hotels in several states. It is the first Le Méridien hotel for the company, Dimond said. "Last year we purchased the Embassy Suites by Hilton New Orleans," Dimond said. "New Orleans is truly a great American city, and the Le Méridien is ideally located for both leisure and business travelers alike visiting downtown New Orleans."

DIGITAL TIPPING CAN boost hotel associates' earnings by up to $375 per week, according to a recent study by Shiny, a digital tipping platform. Furthermore, guests are 15 percent more likely to tip compared to 2023, with half leaving tips of $10 or more. Shiny's second annual report, "Harnessing Tipping Data to Empower and Motivate Hospitality Workers," also includes a case study on Stonebridge Cos., a hospitality management firm that implemented Shiny's digital tipping platform across its hotels in 2022. The report analyzes tipping behaviors and patterns at hotels using its digital tipping software. "Not only is providing a tipping option for associates a phenomenal benefit to increase take-home pay, but it also is a fantastic way to keep employees engaged beyond daily standup," said Rebecca Robinson, Shiny's cofounder. "In this report, we continue to explore trends in digital tipping to further improve operations and ultimately increase retention."
