NEXGEN HOTELS RECENTLY acquired The Maritime Hotel Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruiseport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 150-room hotel will be renovated and rebranded as the Moor Hotel at Marina Bay, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, with completion expected by the third quarter of 2025, NexGen said in a statement. Itasca, Illinois-based NexGen is led by Chris and Ron Patel as principals. This is their second acquisition this year, following the 137-room Hotel Versey in Chicago, Illinois, in May. "NexGen Hotels is always striving to bring top-tier properties into our portfolio, and with this acquisition and conversion, it's a testament to our focus on obtaining diversified brands for our investors," said Chris Patel. "The Moor Hotel at Marina Bay, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, represents a new standard for design and hospitality in the Fort Lauderdale area."

Tru by Hilton in Mobile, Alabama, is now open. It is owned by the newly formed Wealth Hospitality Group in Ridgeland, Mississippi, led by co-founder Chico Patel, and managed by Integral Hospitality Solutions of Birmingham, Alabama. The 90-room hotel is near Hank Aaron Stadium, with other nearby attractions being Dauphin Street, the Gulf Quest National Maritime Museum and the USS Alabama battleship. It has access to Interstates 65 and 10.

Magnuson Hotel Little Rock South in Little Rock, Arkansas, is now open. It's owned by Mahesh Patel. The 90-room hotel is a former Choice Hotel close to Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, University of Arkansas Little Rock, River Market, Little Rock Convention Center, William J. Clinton Library, the Museum of Discovery and the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum. Amenities include refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms. "We are so proud to be working with Mr. Mahesh Patel and his team in Little Rock," stated company CEO Thomas Magnuson, "We look forward to helping this hotel become one of the most active centers in the Little Rock area."

NEXGEN HOTELS RECENTLY acquired the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Northwest in Tamarac, Florida. Hollywood, Florida-based AD1 Global will manage the 120-room property. Itasca, Illinois-based NexGen is led by principals Chris and Ron Patel. This marks their third acquisition of 2024, following the November purchase of the 150-room Maritime Hotel Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruiseport in Fort Lauderdale. "We are thrilled to add the [new hotel] to the NexGen portfolio," said Chris Patel. "The Fort Lauderdale area remains a key market for us, and the Fairfield Inn brand is a good fit for both the area and our portfolio."

MT 6024 is a multi-purpose subsea diving support and construction vessel (DSCV) being built for Thailand-based Mermaid Offshore Services, a subsidiary of the Mermaid Maritime Public Company. The vessel is being built by China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMHI) in China, with construction of the DSCV commencing in January; delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the third quarter of 2016.

The Commitment (C) Class liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered combination container Roll-On/Roll-Off (ConRo) ships are being built by VT Halter Marine for Crowley Maritime Corporation's liner services group. Crowley signed a contract with VT Halter Marine, a subsidiary of VT Systems, for two vessels of the new Commitment (C) Class in November 2013.

Northrop Grumman is developing the MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft system (UAS) for the US Navy to provide long-endurance maritime surveillance. The biggest UAS ever operated by the navy, Triton will fly missions of up to 24 hours scouting out large areas of the ocean, working hand-in-hand with the manned Boeing P-8 Poseidon which can fly in for a closer look at targets of interest.

The ATR 72 ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) is a multi-role, special mission aircraft based on ATR 72-600 modern regional turboprop aircraft from Alenia Aermacchi. The aircraft is designed to perform anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions. It can also be deployed in maritime patrol, search and identification of submarines and search and rescue (SAR) operations.
