The video of the full interview is now available on our website, and the following includes excerpts from the interview with additional information. Rise up early in the morning Hunter said his first hotel job was as a bellhop in the morning shift at the old Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Powers Ferry in Marietta, Georgia. It was quiet, but instructive. "I ran around and helped everybody with everything and learned the business," he said. His experience in hospitality, however, began at a much earlier age. He was 5 years old when Bob Hunter started his business. Teague Hunter recalled stories of childhood trips to the beach, during which he would tour hotels with his father along the way. Ellis Hospitality: A Family Legacy of Perseverance, Innovation & Vision - 0 views

  •
The history of Jyoti Sarolia's family imbues her life. It's the story many immigrants know of coming to America and making a new life. Her regard for that achievement is reflected in the name of her Temecula, California-based company, Ellis Hospitality Group. Part of her family tale even made its way to the Smithsonian Museum. But today, Sarolia, as chief operating officer, is helping Ellis Hospitality move into the future using new technology. It's a future she's making for her daughter, and a story she hopes resonates with other women in every profession. Where it all began Sarolia's family established its foothold in the U.S. in 1952 when her paternal grandfather's brothers, Dhayabhai Patel and Shantibhai Patel, immigrated to this country. Like thousands of others, their first stop was the immigration inspection station on Ellis Island in New York. That inspired the name of Sarolia's new company.Family vacation packages "I felt it was only appropriate to name it after the first chapter of our story, which set the foundation for many generations to come," Sarolia said.

Wyndham's 'Women Own the Room' helps women to own hotels - 0 views

  •
MARCH IS WOMEN'S History Month, a time to focus attention on women's role in business and society. It also is the second month for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' new "Women Own the Room" program that aims to open the door for more women to achieve hotel ownership. Two of the first participants in the program are Trusha Patel, founder and CEO of Platinum Holdings in Austin, Texas, and Neha Jadhav of Chantilly, Virginia, founder of Luminous Hotel Management. Both women are opening dual-brand La Quinta and Hawthorn Suites hotels with assistance from WOTR assistance. Correcting an imbalance Wyndham launched WOTR in January in an effort to overcome the common barriers women face in developing, opening and running their own hotel. The program provides assistance with financial solutions, personalized operational support and networking and educational opportunities. Programs such as WOTR are needed to counter hospitality industry data that shows women are significantly underrepresented in hotel ownership, real estate, and investment funding roles, Wyndham said in a press release. The company cited the most recent annual report from the Castell Project, a nonprofit focused on promoting women in the industry, that found that while there are more women in the hospitality industry they still lag behind in leadership roles.
