You pay a lot of money to have your material professionally translated. First impressions still count! Aim and don't accept anything less than a fully polished output. Desktop publish professionally too!

En tant que documentaliste de métier et très sensible aux questions d'identité numérique, après avoir sensibilisé des centaines d'étudiants à ces questions, il s'agit en réalité de trouver un juste milieu, d'autant plus que même si des discussions sont en cours concernant le droit à l'oubli numérique (voir ici http://bit.ly/h9Q9sA), les principaux acteurs que sont Facebook et Google ont refusé de s'engager à quoi que ce soit. Internet peut être un formidable moyen de s'exprimer et bien s'en servir ouvre de nombreuses portes, mais pour tout contenu potentiellement préjudiciable (ou dès qu'on a un doute là-dessus), il vaut mieux s'abstenir Et quant aux e-mails, on peut partir sur un principe de confiance mais Lionbridge s'est fait prendre là-dessus récemment avec un mass mailing à ses contacts traducteurs qui a fini sur la place publique (plus de détails là : http://bit.ly/cSb3V6)... alors un peu de prudence, du bon sens, et tout se passera bien !

I'd have liked to go but somehow disliked the hype around that event (Bob Sinclar ??) and the amount you had to pay to get in (actually considering this, Bob Sinclar was not so over the top). Merci pour ce retour sur les éléments peut-être moins connus de la manifestation - pour ma part je fais partie de ceux qui ont critiqué (ici : http://bit.ly/hsmyPM), mais pas tant sur le fond que sur la forme : cet événement est extrêmement élitiste (cher), fait la part belle aux mastodontes du web, a un côté hype et branchouille relativement exaspérant un peu comme peuvent l'être les soirées jet-set (et avec Bob Sinclar on n'en était pas très loin). Je suis contente de lire les initiatives dont vous parlez, ça remonte un peu le niveau je trouve, et ça fait moins nombriliste. Merci !

Merci pour cette info, c'est vrai qu'on ne pouvait pas passer à côté. Ce qui est dommage ou gênant, c'est que les traducteurs indépendants peuvent être tentés de mettre toutes les agences de traduction dans le même panier alors qu'il ne faut pas oublier qu'on n'est pas tous des Lionbridge... ni en termes de profits, ni en terme de (non)-respect des traducteurs !
