Each year, IRCT centres and programmes commemorate the UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture through events that highlight the importance of preventing torture and providing rehabilitation to torture survivors. Previously, the IRCT had two 30-second television spots produced: "You can do something to stop torture" and "Let's erase torture". We are looking to expand our portfolio of TV spots by sponsoring a short-film competition. The state-run press continues defaming the Alexandria police torture victim.

The northern Damanhour prosecution office referred to the misdemeanors court a central security officer accused of assaulting a doctor with El Nadim Center for the Rehabilitation of the Victims of Violence

El Nadim Center for the Management and Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence launched its third report on torture in Egypt amid sharp exchanges between members of the center and a journalist from the weekly Al-Osbou.

The victim, Ibrahim Abbas, was reportedly arrested on suspicion of theft in April 2006 and subsequently forced by the policemen to walk around Alexandria wearing women's clothing. He was then subjected to physical abuse at a local police station.

Protest in Cairo in solidarity with the Alexandria church bombing victims and with Sayyed Bilal who died under police torture.
