Do you all know about Library Thing? I have a Library Thing widget on my blog which presents a revolving show of books in my home library. Just thought you all might find it fun. I did a little PD workshop on Library Thing for teachers -- you can run book groups out of it, as well as catalog your home libraries and share them with eachother - or you can get your students to do it with eachother. This site has a worldwide collection of various children's books. You can search by country or language and topic. It is good site for students to explore stories from other countries (and the US), and whenever possible be able to read in another language, maybe even their own native tongue.
There is some interesting information here but I am not sure if the site is being maintained. I loved the Why Connect movie - especially when the showed the word "passion" and inserted a "t" after the i... Pass it on... I am totally stealing this for a book promotion I am doing. The site was running slowly so I am going to try to check out more later.
