Why do you think this is?  Is it your experience that everyone you work with is ready to trust your expertise and help you?  Why would it be any different in gaming?
  • Malcolm Gladwell's new book "Outliers." So, you would have heard of his theory of success, the 10,000 hour theory of success. It's based on this great cognitive science research that if we can master 10,000 hours of effortful study

In your first Diigo Group post, please summarize your understanding of the Discussion Board and discuss how you could use this in your classroom to deepen learning.

My experience with discussion forums has been limited to my graduate work. In that regard, discussion forums, to me, are a replacement for the face-to-face interaction that takes place during a typical class session. Although the intent of it is not to completely replace the "live" interaction between the members of the group, but to enhance it.

I appreciate the alternate method of communication that it offers. I can be socially awkward in unanticipated conversations and will stumble and mumble, of course, further adding to my discomfort. I really like being able to use the written word as a method of communication with my instructors and classmates because, as the article points out, I can think about what I'm going to say and structure it well.

As far as use in my classroom, I don't know that my students would enjoy it if I made it a requirement. Right now, I have a Facebook page for our school group. I will post links to performances, songs, "amazing musician" videos, etc... The kids really enjoy watching them, but while there may be 80+ Likes on a posting, only a VERY small percentage will actually leave a comment. I'd be willing to explore how to encourage them to expand their interaction a bit more.
