Subtext is a free iPad app that allows classroom groups to exchange ideas in the pages of digital texts. You can also layer in enrichment materials, assignments and quizzes-opening up almost limitless opportunities to engage students and foster analysis and writing skills.

Schools have been assigning computers to each child for some time now. And still, we continue to see stories like this in the media. In short: we can do better than this."

It is nice to see people acknowledge that technology can support both direct instruction and discovery education. Both are important and have a place in the classroom. I also like the idea that the tech director asks what is the teacher's purpose for using technology before answering the question of what apps are available.
